This video explains step-by-step how to extend your electric outlet receptacles to be level / flush with the outer edge of your tile when back-splashing a kitchen. The thinset mortar and tile thickness will push your wall out, resulting in a "sunken" outlet once you put your outlet cover on. You'll install simple plastic electrical switch and receptical spacers! Very easy job, just make sure your power to your breaker is off before you install. Hope this helps!

You needed to use a box extended. This does not meet code. You’re only allowed to have 1/4 inch of combustible material aka drywall exposed. That’s about two of those things stacked. You have like 4. This is a fire hazard sir.

I appreciate your comment - this should help DIYers a lot. I did check the product description on these spacers - there is no mention of maximum number to be stacked. My tile adds 1/4" to original drywall and 2 spacers are also 1/4"…but with a healthy layer of thinset it’s beyond 1/4". I like the box extender option - same concept but seals off any exposed materials. I'll add this to the description for viewers. Thanks.

Would be good to show to pull back electrical outlet and get longer screws, cutting tile so that screw fits...lots missing here...

Code violation. The spacers go too far for code in MN at least (and national code I think). Cannot use 5 lol. Box extender will solve problem.
