He's honest for sure and I've always loved his playing. He's a rock standard and so much more but he's not so humble which is not to say that he's a braggart. There's nothing soft or easy going about him. That is NOT a knock because those are some of the qualities that have got him where he is. He's tough and stubborn and very driven and he simply doesn't go where he doesn't want to go. He's polite but he is not humble. I've seen it in person. If you try pushing him you'll be surprised because you be pushed back.

Jeff was the best guitarist that played in The Yardbirds. Clapton and Page are great, but Beck's style is so eclectic and out of the box. I think that's why he hasn't enjoyed the same commercial popularity as the former, but Jeff is the man, blow by blow.

I heard the Jeff Beck Group with Rod Stewart back in the day and they were BOTH front-men. Jeff was the official leader and all the guitar lovers in the audience were there for him but Rod did a terrific job on vocals and they played off each other extremely well. Jeff's concern is that Rod's aging voice has pushed him into material that has no role for an aggressive guitarist.
