I'm from Durgapur and believe me Caleb, it's the best city to be in... If you research further about the same city, you gotta find out how well-planned the city is (it used to be the 2nd most planned city in the country after Chandigarh). It was planned by two American architects, Joseph Allen Stein and Benjamin Polk in 1955. So much so, that it was nicknamed "The Rurh (German industrial area) of India" for its heavy industries of thermal power and steel. I dunno, why the government (both the state and central) is so callous about such an important city, which can reap easy money if properly maintained and provided with incentives for Technology and start-up development. Leave 'lone Kolkata. Even Bangalore (considering the increased traffic jams and bad roads) can be outpaced by this same city of mine. If no one comes to my help, I'm gonna do it all 'lone... 🙂

Its not that business don't exist here...over the past 5-6 years the amount of development in education in Durgapur has been phenomenal compared to Kolkata...every national major school or coaching institution has made its presence rapidly in Durgapur...which means parents in Durgapur are investing...i.e. they are investing for the betterment of their children and family...and the work lies on us to convert that investment and bring back something to our city. My family has been in this city since the past 40 years...things have changed a lot...it hasn't been significant but we're keeping our hopes high to become the major hub after Kolkata.

All the vehicles are owned by them and thus are profitable from day 1. They are already quite popular in kolkata and are planning to expand to other cities mainly tier 2 and tier 3 like bhubaneswar ,patna and gawahati in next 5 years Next is pointo. Although started only 3 years ago they have already received 3 million usd in funding from investors . They offer swappable battery and recharge facilities to its members and are mainly taretting public vehicles like e rickshaws etc

@@EoamerGaming97 we are happy for you that you are liking your life in kolkata. but in reality, rajathat is probably the most livable place in west bengal. most of WB and even Kolkata have many underdeveloped places where basic amenities like proper road, electricity are unavailable. so, rajarhat cannot define the condition of whole WB. and yes, corrupt politics is the major reason. i agree, the cost of living is quite low in Kolkata than most other metro cities, but the quality of living is low as well. also, our college education system is not that good. many graduates are not job-ready, like you said IT companies have started there (probably due to low operational cost), but we are not that skilled in those jobs, due to many reasons, even the students have many faults too. start ups need employees who are already skilled rather than providing training (like MNCs do). honestly, i havent seen too many bengalis who are good at coding, those who are good at coding- they lack work ethics. so, companies often hire from other states. even I have my own projects and most people I hire are non-bengalis because i know the scenario. some of the best people i hired are from mumbai, UP, rajasthan, TN, AP and even Bihar. candidates from mumbai, TN, bihar are not that costly, candidates from Kerala, karnataka, himachal, Pune, delhi are costly. these are generalisation based on my experience, exceptions are there. business people would rather pay a bit more to hire skilled people. apart from IT companies, there aren't many other types of companies. as most bengali people are non-coders, they cannot get IT jobs. also, our parents have this mindset to make us go for govt jobs, so a lot of us waste time there too. like these days state govt job seekers are protesting because they are not getting recruited due to political corruption. some of these candidates are waiting for 8-10 years in hopes to get recruited someday- a very bad mindset we have developed. one of the major reason rich bengalis leave WB is to find peace and better ambience and environment. and for poor ones, it is because they lack skills, which will get them low/mid-level jobs in other states.

usually the West bengal govt is not keen in startups, so hard to build there. the Govt should encourage more youths to open startups and create a dedicated fund for this
