i too was there that night, the neil ish end blew my mind and melted my face. i fully expected a cortez, instead i got what i got and i am glad. the rockin was one of the heaviest i have heard. charlie, warren and danny 3 guitar onslaught was fantastic...........granted i wasn't in SF for the triple bass one, that, i am quite certain made 60% of the audience loose control of their sphincter

Warren can play all the "master" guitarist better than most of them. If you think I am exaggerating, watch all of the different classics that he does. It's amazing! Warren Haynes is AMAZING.

Groovy on so many levels! This was my first Gov't Mule show. All the hype about their legendary live shows is well deserved. I'm a live music enthusiast and the Mule had me mesmerized. One of my favorite live bands ever. I saw ZZ Top at the IL state fair the night before. Greg Allman was the scheduled opening act. Unfortunately, Gregg had to cancel because of his failing health. It was a magical two nights of live music. I'm stoked for the return of the Mule next Friday at The Monarch. R.I.P. Gregg. Long live Gov't Mule! Thanks for the post. This also introduced me to I'm a Ram by Big Sugar. Killer tune. Keep spreading the good vibes through this great music!

I actually got to see the original Mule at the height of their powers when Dose had just released. They opened for Skynyrd and honestly just absolutely killed them and at that time Skynyrd was actually doing pretty good with the release of 20 which was probably their best album since Street Survivors but Warren, Woody, and Matt just mopped the floor them AND Peter Frampton in the same night. Dose is still one of my favorite albums ever and I still listen to it often. Warren is the man!

I am going to be honest... I only listened to Govt Mule today because I was checking out some Kenny Wayne Shepherd video... but now I feel I missed out all these years! I could have seen them 1,000 times and just didn't care, regardless of what people told me. Now I feel cheated and robbed... these guy are really, REALLY, fking good. I'll be listening all weekend guaranteed. I'm just happy they aren't dead....

@@mattjm82 , Bonnamassa's playing has all the fire and personality of an insurance-industry accountant. He's got no real sound or style of his own. There's an old saying that bad composers borrow but good composers steal, and to some extent that also applies to doing cover tunes. On this one you can forget for a few minutes that it's originally a ZZ top song, let the groove carry you away, and just enjoy the hell out of it!
