Hey there Dirty, this was the video tutorial that put me over to get it. The V helped! Last night I was able to officially and confidently skate backwards. I'm new to skating as of this summer. I purchased a pair of boot Ridell's quad skates in August and less than 60days I'm grooving. I'm a 40 something single dad, and me and my teenage son challenged each other to see who could skate backwards first. He caught me watching your videos and said you make it look so smooth. Practice standing on one foot when your not skatin. Work on knee bends both legs and single leg at a time. The first ones I exercised I did 5. Two days later I did 9. Im old tho.

My son loves RS. He use to go 3x a year with school functions and sucked at it. He picked up a pair of skates at a thrift store 2 sizes to big but made em work. In two weeks he was moving and grooving. 6 months later I told him to try and skate backwards to be able to say " yea I can roller skate" but he was reluctant. After watching this video 5 times he picked it up. He skates backwards the same as he skated forwards before he had the skates. He'll keep practicing and get better. Great video.

The first time I skated backwards I got it right. But now I have a different way and no matter how much I practice it's not the same as the first time. Last week a lady gave me a compliment and said she wanted to be able to skate like that. So I stop beating myself up about it. Now I have a nice flow and I'm working on flowing into the turns better. And not running into ppl. I'm so focused sometimes I miss them. Thanks alot you have helped me so much girlfriend. Down with butt up with the gut lol. It's more like a thrust when I do it lol

My guess where your nephew is going; Some exotic beach with lots of great waves for surfing, and outdoor sidewalks for skating. Mexico, Cancun, Bahamas, Caribbean? Did I win my T shirt? Oh well, I tried. Thanks sooo much for this. One of the things I did learn, and I think I said this on one of your other videos. Practicing on the bad roads where my skates stop everystep skating backwards, or the uneven ground, it is all i have to put my board on, the grass even, that is all i have to practice on unless I really walk or skate a distance to get to a good surface, the practice sessions does add up. When I got on the good road, and was thinking oh i know what this will be like, i was surprised to find out i was not stopping but kept going. I remember the night it was a night i finally figured it out the backwards skating, I was on the board on uneven ground, and i did not want to stop. I think i stayed at it till 12 midnight or 1:00 AM. and Yes, i do get scared when i start skating backwards. I will get over it.

yes!!! I live in an area with a lot of hills and really bumpy roads so I've been using the parking garages to practice technique lately! It can make a huge difference and now even my rough surface skating is better!!
