I wrap my skeg with a split pool noodle. no dents no scratches. And for long trips I use a car jack stand on the bench and the pool noodle. It works fine.

Good idea. The skeg doesn't go through the noodle? (as in cutting through the noodle after bouncing a few times?)

I have 23 hp Backwater. on a 15/46 I had a "V" welded in my boat when I had other stuff done to park motor when hauling it.

Sounds like a good modification

Thanks bro, all compliments to you bro. Without you and your videos, I wouldn't have responded. Good video BTW, check your text bro. I thought I sent you a picture back when I sent you the others for the seat protector.

I always appreciate your feed. I'll take a look once I find my phone. I just have an issue with keeping tension on the tail to keep it down. I'll be switching out the kit soon so my seat shouldn't be too ate up

Try using a pad you see for a canoe on a roof top instead of the wood piece . I use thick foam and doesn’t dent the seat like wood. To each their own but the pin is put in the mount to prevent the motor from jumping and swinging into the boat if you hit something hard. Kinda a safety thing to prevent the prop from hitting someone or some thing in the boat. Have to hit something really good but... better save than sorry.

Yeah, I wanted to get the boat out on the water and that block of wood was what I had so I made it work. There have been some better ideas out there for a skeg/seat protector. I do like your idea. The pin is a great idea, but I have never had a tail want to go side ways on me like it wanted to spin around and hope into the boat with me. You would really have to be doing something crazy. It is a good safety feature for towing. I like it being able to lock into the center
@cdp503594 жыл бұрын
From a engineering perspective, it is impossible for that to happen. 1st the wrist strap if worn proper this would kill the engine if it was to spin around. 2nd, if anything was hit, the drive handle would be knocked down and this would be impossible for the rear to swing in. I've talked to Jake at Backwater several times and the pin was to secure the engine while being in transit. I understand what your saying but it's just not the way it is. Best luck to ya

C Price I’ ll have to respectively disagree. To each their own, makes the world turn . I’ll leave the .01% chance for someone to else roll on. Believe his dad points this out on the Veras mount trans install video as well. “Safety lock” believe it’s call, then he describes the transport lock. I could be off on what this exact kit has though . Perhaps the smaller kits don’t have this and I am confused ?
@cdp503594 жыл бұрын
@@2ndrambo1 they all have the safety lock, but it's called the safety because if the prop end is in the boat, and while trailering it will keep it from bouncing out to either side. Not from coming in the boat
@2ndrambo14 жыл бұрын
Oh ok gotcha yea now. Figured that was what the center hole was for. See your side now though .
