How much pressure do yo have on your irrigation for mist.

thanks for sharing how you propagate. there are a few things I would like to do this with. The only thing I have propagated was a wild rose rambler from a start off a plant off the side of the road. It took off nicely and turned into a nice plant that first year.

It is very rewarding to start one from the very beginning.

Jim a question semi related. I have lantana in my cold frame as well as many other cuttings all ornamental and in sand. I went out today to check and saw the lantana was budding out as I did not put a white cover on the glass. I also was concerned that I may be lacking on root growth. I pinched back the flowers/ and did a tug test and dug one out to my surprise great roots. As well as ants that swarmed to the top. Ants in other parts with other cuttings. This year much rain in low country 8a zone. Any idea what I could put down to get rid of these ants ? thank you in advance

Good thorough information. I never had Lantana but it is definitely a plant I would like to have. Dutch gardening sites though warned about the hairy stems and if you bruise the leaves. That they can cause skin burn when you touch them (and the skin is exposed to sunlight) I see you hold the stems with your bare hands. Is that because the cuttings were taken from a young plant?

It is one that can be a skin irritant. My hands are very resistant to those types of problems. It seems lucky until you realize you have carry all the plants that are like that.

Jim, great videos. I’ve had varied success with rooting cuttings. I just plug a lot in order to get a few to root. I keep mine outdoors in full shade. To date, I’ve watered them rather than misting them. Could the lack of misting be part of my problem?

Hey, Jim, your Greenhouse turned out really great I tried using the powder for rooting with not much success will try the liquid I see a lot of people using a box cutter for trimming the plants but I guess that is a pretty slow process I like to root plants in water like coleus and potato vine super easy great video I have 1 Lantana I'm going to try to root in powder what is the shelf life on the liquid ?

I keep it in a refrigerator and use it until it is gone. I usually use it up in less than a year though.

Hi Jim, great video as usual. Watch all of yours several times. I am expanding my propagation shade structure and looking for more Dramm Misting stixs. Been searching on line for weeks. NO ONE still handles them. I called Dramm and they told me to call BWI, but they also discontinued them. ANY IDEAS??????

Seeing as tho Autumn is fast approaching where you live, is there any chance you could get your hands on some Rhodo (the large/small tree varieties) cuttings and show us how you root them? i have pretty good luck striking most things but Rhodo's are impossibly difficult. Even my neighbour who has been in the nursery business all his life laughs and says "dont bother" lol...

Jeff M. Oh I've watched his videos. They seem ok... he's just trying to sell plans for his misting system tho. Also he doesn't really show anything that happens in the 4 months it takes to root... he's just like "here are 1 year old cuttings, so it works!"
