What a difference landscaping can make! Looks so good, much less cluttered & “hodgepodge” - streamlined 😊 I would suggest taking out the remaining tropical tree, it doesn’t go with the cypress vibe. Looks great Kari, a lot of hard work😊

Side note, Cypress trees are lovely, but they put out knees. You will have Cypress knees growing all over your yard. You might wanna look that up cause it’s gonna be pushing up all kinds of stuff. These knees will be everywhere. You’ll be fighting the mower around them. the weedeater and everything else I know because my whole pond is surrounded by cypress trees and I have in one section alone about 150 Cypress knees anywhere from 2 to 3 foot tall down to five and 6 inches And they just pop-up volunteer and they’re gonna keep popping up. There’s nothing you can do about them.

I live in Alabama and I planted these trees for privacy to our backyard where our pool is. I wish I hadn’t just because now I am in a wheelchair because had to have both legs amputated above the knee. You are correct in the fact that they do grow really fast. So fast that you have to really stay on top of them and keep them trimmed. They will not be a problem for you because you are so active. They are very pretty and easy to grow! Enjoy them!!

My advice (gardener for 20+ years) water those trees on a consistent schedule. I’ve planted over 30 trees on our new property. Many, many evergreens. I’m in SC - zone 8a. I water my trees twice a week during the summer. Unless we get a good rain. They need that water that first year especially. I cut back on water a little during the winter especially since we’re prone to wet winters. We get much colder here than FL too. But they still need a drank. 😆 I’ve seen so many people plant new trees (especially evergreens) around here and never water them. They grow SLOW. They rely on rain i suppose. But you water those trees and they will grow. Some of these trees can grow 3ft to 5ft a year if taken care of. Good luck with them. They will be gorgeous!

What a family! Congratulations - the yard looks phenomenal! I think I would go for a screened-in porch. It seems you would get more use out of it since you have a mosquito problem. Your family and friends would really enjoy the area. The trees are wonderful and with good care, should provide the privacy screen you are seeking. Wonderful job - hard work and so enjoyable to see you all ban together to get it done!

Yard looks great,love the trees!I live in SW Florida and have a large screened lanai with covered roof,almost the legnth of my house,and I love it! No mosquitos, no bugs and you can use it year round.I would definitely recommend screening since you also live in Florida.

I like the idea of a screened in porch as you can use it more often and not get bit up by the mosquitoes. On a pretty day you could do part of your work out on the porch with some privacy. I love it all. Take care and stay safe. ❤❤❤❤

Cypress trees are a protective tree in Florida. Once you plant them you cannot cut them down if you’re caught cutting down a cypress tree the fine is astronomical.
