I bought my very first car at 16 for 1800.00 with approx. 20k on it!! That was a 1969 mustang mach1 with a 351 Windsor, 3 speed. My close friend bought a1969 Plymouth gtx 440 magnum 4 speed for 1600.00!!! Both cars all original equipment.

Private sales can be risky and I guess if you don’t know what your looking at an auction vehicle could also be risky too. I’m going to buy a classic Mustang one day soon and the information you have given is going to help.

Since my Dad worked for a Chevy dealership from 46-69, I remember several of the 63 Impala 409 SS. These full size cars were all there were for performance before the muscle cars came about a year later and pony cars a year or two after that. If you owned an Impala SS you were considered a cut above because the SS option was a good bit more expensive than a standard Impala.

Parker my dad was the original owner of a 69 dodge Daytona and he claimed the vents on the front quarters was to relieve air pressure build up on the front due to the nose and front spoiler configuration.

Have a '19 T/A and wish they came with those side exhaust pipes...keep up these great videos. That '68 Cougar XR7-G is pretty rare and that G stood for Dan Gurney but not to be confused with the Dan Gurney Special. Only 14 examples came with the 428 Cobra Jet in '68.

Great video! I was at Mecum harrisburg this weekend. Great auction. Many cars didn't make reserves, so I don't know how many will be sold. I personally loved that 1971 Buick GS Stage 1 Convertible. It was stunning. As was a red on red 1974 Camaro Z/28 that was in the same row. See you at Corvette's @ Carlisle?

The big 454 in the corvette had 465 HP. From what I recall the Chevelle was less because it had more exhaust resistance that the Vette , but it also maybe they just didn’t want it to have the same rating as the Vette.

I am guessing the 450 hp on the LS-6 is low? As far as the hemi, 425 hp at 5000. But, the redline on the hemi is 6200 rpm and the ones I have seen on the dyno pull 520 hp. Guess you must be a Ford guy? Lots of Shelby/Ford interest on your part. Are there any Pontiacs other than the 77 dog?

You may be correct in the LS 6 having the highest " Advertised horsepower rating “ in 1970 . I am sure you are familiar with many manufactures under rating horsepower figures on various engine packages. It is true that Chrysler rated almost all 426 Hemi engines at 425 hp at 4500 rpm which is basically accurate,however even a street Hemi has a power peak thats over 5500 rpm where you May find it documented that it makes 550 hp and 525 lb ft torque. You will also find high compression cross ram super stock 426 Hemi rated a 425 hp at 4500 rpm. Suerstock Hemi you will find are 650 hp or more depending on year compression and cam. Love your channel fantastic presentation and knowledge is much appreciated. Just sharing some tips for you to verify and sharpen the pencil.

Most of the cars that are bringing the big money of over two hundred thousand to a million dollars or very very highly priced over the top but there is a market where people will say it's going to be worth double that in about 10 years and that is why they're bringing the money the same when you talk about high-dollar artwork somebody will pay more for it

The AAR & T/A raising of the rear suspension makes them more nose heavy. The wider tire in back also doesn't help handling, especially in rain. The cars were done for homolgation, but even the race version were compromised because before casting & forging could make a fast ratio idler arm to match the pitman arm, the accountants threw up a red flag, so the cars steered faster left than right. Utter mess - the best success Chrysler had in racing? Team Starfish, engineer Scott Harvey. Rally & SCCA raced A-bodies. The E-bodies never won much. They were a hustled-together product from the start. A cut-down B-body with no chassis tuning & a very nice styling job.

My 67 Mustang Coupe, built in October of 66, does not have a VIN on the dash at all. I restored the entire car. No numbers on the dash at all. Is this common? Otherwise, complete numbers matching car. I'm the 2nd owner.

Z28s, hemis and such are legitimate collectible cars but it amazes me how relatively average classic cars are still bringing high prices. Why pay 40k for a basic mustang fastback with drum brakes and 270hp when you can get a newer one with so much more... so much more, for the same price or less?

One of my personal pet peeves is seeing restored cars selling for more money then original untouched cars. Yes, obviously the original car "feels" old, but to me that's what makes it so valuable. It's like going back in time to 1977 and driving a genuine untouched musclecar off the used car lot. With one of those in-depth restorations you're really just driving a brand new car that happens to look like the original. At some point it becomes a recreation since so many parts have been replaced that there's very little of the original car left. It's almost like the Ship of Theseus argument. If you replace almost everything except the engine block, body shell, and VIN number then is it still the same car? Or here's an even bigger mind f**k. If I take all the parts that were replaced during one of those replace-everything-with-new-stuff type restorations and I build a car out of it, who has the more original car? Who has the "real" car? Anyway, awesome video!

We have an auto consignment shop near us and it's filled with all manner of Frankenstein cars. Most are unoriginal and have a mishmash of old and after-market parts and a whole lot of Bondo. What should be the holy grail in car collecting is finding something like a 1969 Camaro Z/28 in some old guy's garage. Time is spent bringing the car back to operational status and replacing as few parts as possible. The result is a car that wears it's patina proudly but yet is mechanically sound. Yes finding something like that is rare and why the value is so high.

@@oletreed4230 okay, now here's a little history about 60s stock car racing and why both the nose and the high profile rear spoiler were incorporated onto units sold at dealerships as well as the race cars. The long sloped front end literally kept the car from taking off like a Cessna plane, which sometimes still happened, and the rear wing was an early attempt at aerodynamically stabilization. Also, once all these things were installed? In order to qualify for sanctioned "stock car" classification and to race, the exact same details and designed car had to be offered to the public at dealerships, not sure on how many units the company were required to provide.
