It'd be interesting to try anchoring the slices with a toothpick or two during the initial stacking. That would not only alleviate the issue of re-orienting them once they start sliding around, but would also provide a handle to help ease the completed stacks out of the baking pan.

Well these look amazingly yummy and tasty. Think I’ve tried these before and I wrecked them but I’m going to try them again now. I have a bit more patience and lots of time these days. They look so darn good my mouth is watering AGAIN. I also love the other ones that you slice across the top of the potato and I usually put Parmesan and garlic all the way through the splits. Fabulous So much lush Dishes you can do with the Potato 🥔 I’m Cooking for 7 of us Christmas Day but I’m prepping days before First will be my Mince Pies I add Rum or Brandy to the Mix but can never taste it I think it burns off is there anything I can do to enhance the Mincemeat I use it from a Jar Thank You Mr Rik I can’t wait to try out some of these Recipes for the Christmas Festivities 🇬🇧🇨🇦💕

Buy your jar of mincemeat early and add the brandy then, leave to mature for as long as possible. You could also add a bit more mixed spice. The alternative is a sip of brandy then a bite of mince pie and repeat!

These are great. talking about cheese with flavor, I'm also thinking blue like Stilton or Roquefort or even Limberger (I love Limberger, I can eat it right off the knife...be careful allot of folks hate it :) Anything strong that you and yours can tolerate :) Good recipe...thanks Rik.

Side note: I thought I would share this about Limberger and quesadillas. If you spread an extremely thin layer of Limberger on the tortilla before making the quesadillas, very thin. Even people who hate this cheese will ask what your secret ingredient is and why they are so good :) This work especially well with a hard salami/tomato/cilantro/cheese of choice/spice of choice version :)
