Tear to top flaps off the filter box and you can invert the filter in the box to hold it upright while filling with oil so it doesn't tip

One issue I keep running into is anytime I go to *any* oil change place, they put half a quart too much in it. And every time, they always say, "It's better to have too much oil than too little." But I swear, I notice my car running rough and burning oil when there's too much in it. It's really frustrating and guys at the oil change places literally do not car about ruining your vehicle. You're better off just doing it yourself.
@backyardchevy3283 жыл бұрын
Yea thats a horrid philosophy, clearly they havent experienced the damage overfilling could cause...yea overfilling can cause excess blowby so it begins to burn oil..then excess crankcase pressure can blow out seals and gaskets causing leaks..finally it can potentially cause frothy oil and that can cause a variety of engine damage

Yeah thats goddamn idiotic. First time I ever changed my motorbike spark plugs I put too much oil in and instantly drowned my brand new spark plugs. Never forgot that lesson.

Kitty!!! Kitty cat is saying “now that doesn’t make sense! Putting the oil filter directly inbetween the exhaust?! Won’t that smoke a lot when oil gets on it?” Yes kitty cat, it will. But it’s ok, it will stop.

when I do my oil changes, before I even remove the oil drain bolt, I like to remove the dipstick and then crack loose the fill cap. I also like to crack loose the oil filter just so I know I can get it unscrewed after I've drained all the oil out. Then after doing all that, I proceed to remove the drain plug and drain the old oil. Also, afraid to say it but you've overfilled it by .5 to .6 quarts as the oil capacity of that engine with oil filter change is 4.4 quarts
@backyardchevy3282 жыл бұрын
Well the manufacturers oil capacity usually lands it in between full and low...and i always prefer to put it at the full mark..due to the fact i have customers who never check their oil and if the vehicle burns oil or loses it with blowby..i find it beneficial for them to have it at full so by the time next oil change comes up i find it usually at the low mark or just above that instead of lower than that

Any tips on how to change the transmission filter and fluid?
@backyardchevy3285 жыл бұрын
I had actually recorded the transmission fluid change on this vehicle but not sure what happened to one of my files so never ended up completing it, but first thing u do gotta find out if its a cvt transmission(call dealer with vin number theyll let u know) or if its a regular transmission..if its a regular transmission what i do is drain it in a container where it has markings to tell me how much i drained out..and also some of these have a spin on filter on the driver side of the transmission and others u gotta remove the transmission pan and the filter will be inside being held on by 3 bolts if i remember properly.

I think the mechanics double gasket my filter, will I have to do oil change and new filter or can I just fix the double gasket?
@backyardchevy3283 жыл бұрын
U can fix the double gasket, just remove filter and remove the old gasket and reinstall the filter, since the new filters new gasket wasnt tightened onto metal surface it should still be ok to use...but u will wanna check the oil level and add if necessary

Well oil capacity says its 4.2 quarts and that normally gets u between the full mark and low, but when i did it to get to the full mark which is where i like it to be..it took the whole 5 quarts

@@backyardchevy328 sweet Im changing my oil today and this was the exact feedback I needed. I noticed 4.2 aswell but plan on topping mine off with a little stabilizer so will be sure to check the dipstick of course!
