When talking about this film's style, it's important to note how much Bay was riffing on Tony Scott. Bad boys was completely different than the John singleton movies only airing on BET. It set itself apart which is why it has aged so well and you can watch it annually and appreciate the nostalgia of action films and the actors who became this dynamic duo that became its own franchise from the people. The critics were short sighted and didn't expect them to go past a black audience. They still won't own up to that bad criticism because the box office and re-watch ability says otherwise.

For all it's problems this is still one of my favourite 90's action comedies along with True Lies and Face Off , it totally scratched the Miami Vice itch. I always thought The Other Guys felt like a reference to that casting What If This really put Will Smith on the map for a lot of people, you really got the sense that Mr Summer arrived, especially that running scene with the taxi. All the Bayisms are here, the telephoto swoop shot, slomo into the sunset and everything. 12:42 This is officially Part 2 of this infamous story. The first part is in the video with the infamous performance of Corey Feldman on the TODAY Show. Check that out, then check this out to further enjoy the lore of Martin Thomas. BTW, poor Martin. LOL

26:40 if you watch MARTIN the sitcom, you know all Martin did was argue and physically fight people be it through his character fighting the old lady or the other costumed characters he played on the show Otis the security guard, Dragonfly Jones the martial Arts teacher, Shanehneh the neighbor All fighters. albeit comedy it was very physical and he is a good enough actor to translate to action star.

Well then Martin knows how Doug Walker feels about the show Doug then. Haha. As a kid, I would occasionally get a nickname based off my last name sounding like a certain meat. I'll leave it at that. Haha.

@lenindominguez1986 I don't want to say my last name here. As for the particular meat? It's a pizza topping.

@lenindominguez1986 Yeah. My first name and then Pepperoni. Haha.

@lenindominguez1986 I go back and forth between toppings nowadays. Depends on the mood. Also, you don't need Twitch to enjoy their streams by the way.

Bad Boys was my gateway to African American movies. I loved it. I miss the over the top hood movies like this one or the Jet Li/DMX movies. Man I miss them so much!

I was very young at 11 years old when this dropped but was fan of both Martin Tv show and Fresh Prince. So had to wait for home video but I was blown away by the action and Humor once it came to blockbuster video. Also the score is very underrated. It was composed by Mark Mancina who did the music for Speed.

Real surprised Korey hadn’t seen the original before. Seems right up his alley. Well I guess we all miss something obvious.

I remember seeing this movie multiple times at Avondale 16 movie theater in 1995! Two of the biggest black sitcom stars on tv, Martin Lawerance and Will Smith doing a R-rated buddy cop comedy. Pure fucking genius!!!!!

I was like Korey and Martin. Never really watched the first movie lol. IMO it’s an ok movie lol. Just had that Star power from a young will with and Martin Lawrence at that time. On another note, where’s Chris?

Tèa Leoni... Her voice was understated in the 1st movie... It was Part of the Character. Small ....but as You All said ; The movie's success was the Sum of many parts. 👌 👍🏿

It was a production that had a pair of great hungry actors and a great hungry director that was shepherded by a set of veteran producers.
