Bad Boys: Ride Or Die (2024) | Movie Review

So apparently, I was wrong about Judy being the girl playing basketball in Bad Boys For Life. So I stand corrected on that. That was Callie. But here's the thing. Judy wasn't mentioned at all in any significant capacity in any of the other previous films. So can you blame me for getting things mixed up? There was no previous connection other than maybe the girl he was watching play basketball in the third movie. Plus they also screwed up that continuity too because she's clearly older in the last one that she is here. It's still a bad script. And with the random addition of U.S. Marshall Judy Howard who now is just being introduced fully in this film alone? It just makes that particular character and her part in this even worse. Now, the writers are pulling other characters kids out of their behinds that the audience should care about just because they are now in the film. So now there's Mike's new wife and Captain Howard's new daughter? Ugh. Armando is enough. And they handled that really well in the third movie. This is just lazy writing.

She's like the one daughter from Family Matters that disappears for a while and then shows up on the series finale. 😄

I agree with every single thing you said about this not needed sequel I seen last weekend I feel the script is pretty bad almost as bad if not worst then the most recent ''Fast&Furious'' sequels IMHO. To me there's just the first 3 films that's all IMHO. A very solid job on the review Mike👍👍

If we wanna make a better Bad Boys Sequel, have the 5th movie be the final of the series, wrap up everything and even wrap up that cliffhanger ending of the cancelled spin-off series "LA's Finest." Bring Syd back, team up with Mike and Marcus again to find out who tried to kill Syd, maybe bring Jessica Alba who's Syd's partner from "LA's Finest" in the 5th movie. Like, some bad guy tried to kill Gabrielle and Jessica's characters, they both go to Miami and team up with Mike and Marcus, but they also get involved accidentally.

This movie should have been called Bad Boys 4 Life and the last one should have been called Ride or Die. Definitely a missed opportunity.

I enjoyed this movie, but Bad Boys for Life was definitely better IMO. The first movie is still my favorite but after rewatching it again I just love the father/son aspect of that movie which gave Mike a lot of interesting character development. I also think the action sequences were much better in that movie too as well as the villain, but I can't say I didn't have fun with this movie. The Reggie sequence and the finale with the gators was definitely the best part of this movie and Will Smith/Martin Lawrence still have great chemistry but I wish we could go back to the grittiness of the first movie again.

They should have never killed off the police captain in the last movie just so they could set up a stupid plot device for this one. I really enjoyed Bad Boys 4 Life. It should have ended the series. But greedy ass Hollywood can't have a trilogy anymore. We gotta have 4 or 5 movies in a fuckin buddy cop movie. Even Manic Cop and RoboCop didn't do this shit, they stopped at 3 and then got rebooted. Unless Marcus and Mike are training younger cops in the next one then forget about it. But I get called an ageist for pointing out that Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are "getting too old for this shit."

Honestly, how some people personally thought of John Wick 4 last year was what I thought of this movie. Almost felt way too fast and furious with the action, Marcus was heavily ruined in this movie by making him too much of a junk food addict that whines about getting a black jelly bean or no chips in his house,Ioan Grufford was too much of a goof villain and the villains plan is shitty as since they are framing a dead guy, they would probably get exposed quick. The clearly ran out of ideas at this rate, I give it a 4/10

I liked this more than John Wick 4 solely for the lack of a BS ending where Mike or Marcus die at the end. But only a little more. I gave that like ** stars. I would give this around ** 1/2.

I liked it I seen it twice in theaters. I do feel they dropped the ball..with not taking full advantage of them being on the run, and not giving armsndo more bad ass scenes. He should of had like 3 bad ass scenes. I hsve way more critiques, but those are my main two. Yeah fletcher being a tech guy in the first two. I thought in this one. He would be helping ammo do something. Or something to that nature. I hope they get it right in bad boys 5. The writers and the directors. I think will and martin still have great vhemistry. What fucked it up is that. They didnt adlip their jokes as much as the other films. They basically let the writers write the jokes, and thry arent comedians nor good writers. I think one of the writers is a new writer. That thry happened to give a chance. Smh

This is my 2nd fav after Ride or Die. Actually Callie from the last movie is his granddaughter. His daughter wasn't in the last movie. His daughter's name is Judy. Two separate people. Don't think Judy was in the last one. I haven't seen it in four years. They should all team up in the next movie. All four of them.

Thanks for the correction. But if that is his grand daughter Callie? They screwed that up too. She's like multiple years younger than she was in Bad Boys For Life. Regardless, the way it was all handled was still bad. You never saw his daughter until this movie. There wasn't a reference to her either in the previous films. Other than the fact that he has a grandaughter. You never saw Judy or even heard of her until Ride or Die. And I am fine with no more team ups. This isn't Fast and Furious. And your second favorite after the third film? To each their own. I still feel the first two are the best hands down.

I enjoyed it but it kinda felt a bit disappointing. I wish the villain was more three dimensional and Fletcher wasn’t killed off. I had more of a fun time watching BB4L in the theaters than this. Good review, Mike.

Many things I agree with you with. Mike not marrying Rita or Syd was disappointing to me. They might as well have not made a sequel if it wasn’t going to live up to the third entry.

Mike Lowery having PTSD, man they really pulled that subplot outta their asses 😂 and it's actually pretty poor taste. I know people who are cops and veterans and PTSD is not some shit to make fun of, especially in a Bad Boys movie. And no, I'm not laughing at PTSD, I'm laughing at the absurdity that a character like Mike Lowery, who has been shooting multiple people and doing some shitty police work in the previous movies, is all of a sudden feeling the effects of it. And Marcus slapping him in the face snaps him out of it? GTFO 🤨

Even I thought the same way too! 😂😂😂😂 And yes, PTSD is not something to make fun of, but for Mike Lowery? He's a loose cannon, hotshot detective. Yeah, I get it. He lost his Captain, but I would've been fine if they developed that in the previous movie instead. Here, it just happens randomly out of nowhere. I still think this movie is entertaining, but man... They are really running out of ideas for this franchise.

I only saw the first 3 films (the first 2 films on DVD and the third film in theatres). I never saw the 4th film. I was going to see it around Father's Day weekend, but my dad didn't want to because he couldn't look at Will Smith the same way again after the slapping incident (despite it was 2 years ago). Now after I heard Ride or Die is not as good as the first 3 films, now I'm having second thoughts. I would probably rent it if it hits on Amazon Prime.

Thanks. I got Judy Howard mixed up with Callie apparently but to be fair Judy never existed until this movie. So, it's not like it's too much of a stretch to assume that the girl playing basketball was Judy off the top of my head. Oh and I definitely think you might like this even less than me in all honesty. I am surprised no one has requested it yet.

Yeah it’s my least favorite and weakest entry in the series BUT I still highly enjoyed it. Bad boys is a strong franchise in my book especially the third one coming almost 20 years later. And I disagree with your sad boys rant song at the end. A 5th film isn’t needed I agree but Will and Martin look good for their age and are still believable in these roles.

If this franchise goes on any longer it is Sad Boys. Will and Martin aren't getting any younger and the quality is already starting to drop off. It will just get sad watching these two a few years older trying to be action stars and dealing with plots that make their age even more noticeable.

I didn't hate it but it wasn't what I would call a good sequel let alone a good film overall. I liked parts of the finale, the Reggie sequence and some other bits but there was so much else I didn't like that it just didn't even equate to an average time waster for me. It really reminded me of A Good Day To Die Hard but just a little bit better. But with similar issues.

Yeah that I just saw at theater, definitely so boring and lame fourth one is really lame annoying, no piece of lot of action felt like so lazy storyline, I felt sleeping at theater, because it is sequel not really unfunny and one of the worst sequel franchise, started off will and martin he got drunk something unlike previous one, I do love it last one third film have something issue and because more action than this garbage lame boring sequence.

I wouldn't call it the worst film I have seen this year but it definitely might be the most disappointing. Axel F was a Netflix film and I thought that was considerably better even with the issues it had.
