A lot of what I see young women say on TikTok, should BE kept private amongst the girls. Even when I was single, back in the 90s, friends & acquaintances said things like this. It has more to do with the disappointment that the fantasy; the fairy tale, was being shattered. Sometimes the friend was in tears...sobbing, even. She admits to me she didn't want HIM, but "why couldn't he be THE ONE?" The only lesson here for a man is don't date women who treat the internet as their diary. Difficult, I know. But, gee. Now she looks like a fool to the whole world. Where as my friends, back in the day, just looked foolish to me. But, I loved them, so it was OK.

When I see a story like this I'm minded of a broken engagement I had. She broke off the engagement thinking I would come running back. She didn't notice that I agreed to the breakup for my own reasons. She was shocked when ten months later I began seeing someone else who would ultimately never try to manipulate me. That lady and I have been happily married 31 years this past June.

@@alluringbliss4165 It was a series of things that made me realize she was emotionally manipulating me. Oddly enough if she hadn't broken it off I may not have. I'm a bit stubborn sometimes. But once she did I was able to think more clearly and there was no going back from that moment on. I knew I could never trust her after that. I can tell you it was quite the shock to her when I didn't try to get her back. Even after I began a new relationship she tried to meddle. The difference was I found someone who was trustworthy and was unconditionally supportive. Her attempts just fell flat in the face of that kind of relationship.

Likewise some of those later comments were saying the man's pursuit was some kind of minimum. Very few if any of older couples I've spoken to have claimed that these quixotic games were the norm. Fighting for someone who ultimately tells you that they dont see any future is kind of fruitless. If a girl tells me she's very busy or isn't ready at the moment, Ill respectfully back off but offer to keep an open door if things change, sometimes people have busy lives or realize that they dont want commitment if stuff moves to fast. But if someone just outright says, its not a good fit. Why bother? They clearly dont feel a kind of way about you. If her video ended before her saying she wanted the guy to try. Then Id probably be more on her side. Sometimes every piece can be there except actual passion and true interest. But she likely does not know what she wants.

When I was dating my husband, after the third or fourth casual date he sat me down at a park and laid out some things that had happened in his past that he thought I should know before we went any further. It was that day that I thought, “I’m going to love this man, and I’m going to marry him”. 2.5 year later we are married and we have a little boy and a baby girl due to arrive this month. I had some doubts, but I took a leap of faith that paid off and I couldn’t be happier. I think “husband material” is simply a man who becomes your best friend, makes you feel safe, and holds the same goals and values as you.

Good men that are worth marrying dont have time to waste sitting around chasing 1 woman that has told him no already Men have shit to do, problems to fix, Bill's to pay,etc If women want a man that's honest, genuine, respectful, and willing to properly communicate...then those women need to PORTRAY those EXACT traits themselves Womens dating methods are to signal what their traits are and if they are open/intrested And mens dating method is to look for a woman whose traits he likes and approach her If women arent signalling the traits they want in a men they are the ones at fault for only attracting worthless men, because they are portraying worthless traits I mean how can women hope and except to find a genuine, honest man that's willing to communicate properly if they themselves arent willing to be and do those things themselves?

@iamme25yago I totally get that and have thought the same way many times - even recently - but I still think you can be empathetic and sympathetic while laying down hard boundaries. Here's a personal example: I was in a 6-month relationship in college. My gf was a very cool person with good taste in movies and music. Unfortunately, we realized we didn't have compatible lifestyles or wants. The break up was rocky, and the friendship was severed. After some years of sitting on my feelings, I eventually came to a mental and emotional place where I respect her as a person and treasure my time I had with her. I hope she feels the same, but I understand if she doesn't. She's an adult, as am I. Break ups happen, and life goes on. I've chosen even after being deeply hurt to still see people I view as wrong and/or immature with empathy and sympathy. It's ultimately my choice to do so. Yes, some people are genuinely bad forces in the world. Those people need to be stopped and locked up so they harm as few people as possible. I think most people, though, are at least decent folks and deserve some compassion. God bless.

I see people throwing in the "no means no!" Argument but allow me to toss in an additional perspective. One thing about men (or at least most men..(well, most men I know)) is that we have to be intentional....this includes *MEANING WHAT WE SAY* . This is why guys get angry when you say "i dont want any food" then gets mad or eats your guys food. Because you werent honest about your feelings and intentional with your communication. Guys are intentional because they all have an implicit understanding that they're held accountable to their words AND their actions by some way shape or form by society at large. This is contrary to women in the US. In many cases, emotion becomes a moral shield granting you access to do whatever you want whenever. Im not mad about it. In fact, I actually understand it - this is a benefit if being a part of a protected class... Any woman who fights for true equality in society should already be employing this. If you want to be an equal member of society instead of reaping the benefits of being a protected class of society, you have to be willing to let go of benefits including benefits of doubt. This INCLUDES being intentional when you speak. This is a stark contrast to whats usually said on the side of feminism to what they employ / do.

I have no idea if this woman was just making a joke or being serious so I won't judge either way. From my experience however, when a woman broke up with me, she did so with the hope and assumption that I WOULD pursue her and win her back. That was always her goal, break up with me, crush me and break me, force me to go above and beyond to win her back. She would deny me for awhile and date or sleep around in the mean time, but her end goal was always to allow herself to be won back over. The thing is, if they break up with you and you pursue them like they want, they tell you NO, to stop pursuing. They lose interest and respect for you because chasing makes you look needy and clingy and like you have no other options in the dating realm. But if you don't chase, you're not putting in any effort and therefore don't deserve them. It's this really sick and fucked up game women play all for the sake of feeling good about themselves, to be spoiled and doted on every minute of every day. I don't know if that's what this woman was doing, but it's usually the case in my experience. It's an automatic L for the man either way and I think he did the right thing. Again, I'm not saying this woman was playing that game at all, I hope she wasn't. (And btw, I did NOT pursue that woman who broke up with me. Uno Reverse hit her pretty hard when she was the one who ended up devastated and heart broken when she finally figured out I moved on. I don't do games or ultimatums.)

And the fact that she slept with other men in the meantime is very telling. That'll send any man with a sense of respect for himself running for the hills. She basically just said ''Can you at least try to convince me otherwise? She had already decided that though before finding out he wasn't gonna "fight" for her. And the thing is, a man with true "husband energy" is gonna respect the wishes of a girl and that "no means no", rather than pushing it. If in a relationship and there's a fight and the girl wants to go to an extreme or something? Absolutely. I will push some things with my GF because she does get emotional easier than I do, so she tends to blow up at times and say things she doesn't mean, so I step up to hold things together, insisting to talk with her when she doesn't want to and etc, and she's thanked me for that. I'll fight for my relationship with her, as I've had to a lot. But if I'm just meeting a girl? That's not there yet. I don't know her. I'm gonna respect her wishes, and in some cases I'll do that with my GF too. There are times I'm worried that actually respecting her wishes will be interpreted as me "not fighting for her", but I know she'll understand when I do listen to what she says at times. If I'm on a date with someone though, especially because of Me 2 and crap, I'm careful not to be pushy with this girl who doesn't know me super well. And it could also be that I'm not feeling "the energy" either, so when she says it's not gonna work out, I'll be agreeing that I don't feel it either. There's nothing there to fight for to begin with.

The only possible loophole that could justify her if she meant by, "he didn't try to pursue me," she meant that he put no effort during the dates as opposed to not trying to pursue her after being rejected. I've been married for nearly a decade and my wife has said things very similar to this, it's often very hard to process and I struggle to express what being able to give her that feeling of safety (when it's been lacking for most if not all of her life) means to me. There's nothing like being a home for someone, and it's a strange feeling (similar to what you expressed when you wake up with your husband) to look around at your life and want nothing more. I came at it from the other direction to you, I wanted to build something with someone, lost my way and I never seemed to find anything that mattered. Then I stumbled on this tiny bird of a woman, who not only added to my life, but could be added to in turn. Suddenly, things I did had a weight to them, but for my actions her life improved or didn't. So naturally I wanted to give, do and be more for her - and carve out some measure of peace for her that was long overdue. Ever since I've always known I'm where I should be and doing what I should be doing.

We had a lot of international students, and one girl from Turkey told a very romantic story of how her grandfather pursued her grandmother and asked her to marry him 7 times before she agreed. I remember feeling despair at the thought that no man today would EVER go through that much effort for a woman. Did women back then play more games than women today? Or could they actually afford to test men's resolve because men were less deterred by rejection? I think the girl's frustration in that video is some deep-seated acknowledgement of this new reality that we all have experienced and wish was different.

When I met him we didn’t even like each other at first, but once we actually talked and got to know each other we hit it off. I caught him checking out my Facebook profile and my mom noticed so I told her he asked me to junior prom (he had not lol) so when I went to school later that day I explained everything to him and asked if he would take me as a friend. He agreed and after that told all our friends that we were unofficially official 😂 we’ve been together for seven years, and married for three now. There are men who are husband material and men who aren’t and you can normally tell after a few dates. However if you aren’t straightforward with each other from the start you’re wasting both of your time.
