I have COPD and beginning of last year got pneumonia. I refused to go to hospital because my animals. I could hardly walk from one room to the next. My friend suggested they take the two lots of chickens. As I clean them out daily and have to walk uphill to their house and runs. This was upsetting for me but I knew I couldn't cope. I got help in an hour a day for the other animals. Two months later I had improved enough to get one lot of chickens back but knew I was not able to look after both lots. Could no longer afford to get help in. So I let them keep the remaining productive chickens. Sometimes you have to put your owns wishes aside and do what's best for your animals. If you are in a situation where you can not cope ( for whatever the reason) you must ask for help or accept offers of help.

I worked for animal control in a very large city and animal control may care about removing the animal into the kennel but it is a terrible place for animals. Especially small dogs. If you care for animals your last resort is to call animal control.
@missednoahsarc26544 жыл бұрын
@@summersalix like Dr. Kirk said start by trying to talk to the neighbor. Maybe offer to feed and walk the animal then maybe offer an idea to rehome the animal. Shelters and rescue groups are different from animal control and by getting in contact with them first the animal might avoid ever being in a kennel situation. With all that being said if you are a witness to animal abuse call animal control. They are the people who can get a court order to take an animal away and prosecute the human. Also animal control euthenises animals for free or for a very low fee. If your animal is dying please be kind and put them to sleep. Last but not least get your animal microchipped. Check with animal control with services like microchipping and other needs like worming and vaccinations. They may have services in your area for low cost animal vaccination. Local shelters may help with this too. Also animal control can help with food distribution and getting dog houses to outside dogs.

You cover Mazzy Star?! Where can I listen?? I deserve it, I really really do.

I'm a big fan of the podcast. I have one question: Can you please put time stamps in the description? That way we can avoid or look up certain topics. For example: Pet abuse is a topic I can almost never stomach, but I'd love to listen to the rest of the show.

Pro tip: if you foster pets for a friend, or the friend of a friend, it might be smart to think in terms of your actually claiming the pet for the rest of its life. I have a really good friend who had a roommate during her first year of marriage. Her roommate had two dogs and my friend had three dogs. And the second year of the arrangement, the roommate got flakier and flakier, spending more and more time away from the house and never offering to pay for the dog food or veterinary care. Eventually the roommate just sort of ghosted this couple, and they ended up giving the two dogs to the roommates ex-boyfriend. The ex ended up taking really good care of the dogs, and the roommate, though angry, really didn't have much cause to be angry after basically abandoning his pets. But my friends really fed housed and covered veterinary care. so if you do the foster arrangement just plan to be the forever home in your mind.

For the person who feels suicidal all the time, see if you can try an “Alternatives to suicide” group, it is ran by others who have experienced suicidal thoughts and they might have a different approach than what you’ve experienced in the past. There’s a few that should be happening on zoom right now and they have a webinar posted on KZbin if you want to learn more about the approach :)

Washing machines aren't complicated at all. 90% of their super special settings are not something anyone needs. You need three different temperatures (in °C, no idea about US temps): 30° - 40° your setting for most of the laundry unless it's wool, delicate lady underwear, towels, bedding or really dirty workclothes or something. You can absolutely wash 30°C laundry at 40°C. I always do. 60°C Towels and cotton underwear, some bedding 95°C Any towels and bedding that will support these temperatures. Also cloth rags for cleaning, etc. There, that's it. Wash white laundry seperately, wash similar colors together, wash wool and silk etc. seperately. That's really it. 🤷🏻♀️ If you're feeling fancy you can look into different tumbling speeds or timer settings as well as pre-washing/soaking options. They can be convenient but that's it. I often set a timer so my laundry will be ready in the morning or when I get home, for example. Saves time.

re: animals How about temporarily boarding them with a pet hotel? That way, it feels less "personal" than a different person taking care of the dogs and "replacing" your friend in her own perception. It doesn't invoke the same feeling of failure as involving another person. It's basically just a business transaction without your friend having to feel ashamed or letting strangers into her life until she's better. Could that be an option?
@lucindabreeding4 жыл бұрын
It's an option, but it's more expensive than fostering them yourself or having a friend foster them.
@evanz27044 жыл бұрын
@@lucindabreeding While that's true, the pets are guaranteed to have their needs met and will receive veterinary care. It's also pretty clear who is gonna pay for the food, who is liable if anything happens, etc. If you offer to take care of them as a friend you are absolutely liable, and it sometimes happens that you have to pay oop for everything. Friends are not always reliable. You have to understand the responsibility of "just helping out"
