Hey Bonnie! I used to work for a granite and marble distributor and had tons of people in the same dilemma of wanting marble, but not wanting the upkeep. There are plenty of white granites that look just as good! River White, Aspen White, Snowfall, (some might go by different names because I am in the South) - there are also manmade quartz products that are made to look like marble but have the durability of granite!

quartz is what you should do! I commented on Ellie's vlog too when they were talking about what to get for their kitchen! Quartz is so pretty and doesn't require sealing or any of that, plus you don't have to worry about what you clean it with! We have quartz in our kitchen which we just got redone 2 years ago!

I'm in love with marble and my dinning room table is marble. Not a super high quality marble but you have to baby it so much! I have a few cup rings from my husband leaving a water cup on the table. My counter tops in my kitchen are a dark granite and i love them! I do polish them quiet often and im kind of crazy making sure no one leaves any cups or water drips on it but they are beautiful. Good choice with the quartz/granite. You won't regret it! Especially when the kids get older and start helping more in the kitchen/around the house. You'll know they are a little more durable incase the kids don't treat it as nicely as you do! :)

Quartz is perfect for durability. Better than granite. We ended up going with Quartz for our kitchen, and we've had it for just over a year. I'm very happy with the durability thus far!! But I know what you mean with comparing side by side. We really loved this one slab of quartz that was crazy expensive, so we went with a more affordable slab of quartz, and now a year later I don't even know what the first pick looked like!!

I love the Carrera marble too! It would be my first choice based on just looks. I also really like the Thunder white. It's actually something I have never seen before and its always a plus to have something unique. It's visually interesting and you can always see something different in it. I do agree if anybody would do a good job at taking care of that marble it would be you. But you love to have your kids on the counter whether your feeding them or having them help you cook. I feel like you would be more hesitant to let them do that if you had carrera marble so I say its not worth it.

Don't worry Bonnie you'll love the quartz as well. I know the real thing looks the best but marble is not the best choice for a kitchen. Depending on the slab that they create, it might have more lines in the Quartz too :)

I think you should just baby proof the house more, like get those baby proof fences and such. Of friend of mines had to learn the hard way when her baby climbed up the bathtub, lost balance, fell back and hit his head first, he never seemed all the way there after that but she thought nothing of it, I begged her to take him to the doctors but she felt I was over exaggerating and overthinking (something I do often), just barely a week after, baby wasn't responding, wouldn't wake up, found out he bled in his brain and no he didn't make it. Quite sad and don't think we should be over protective as parents but I definitely thing being cautious is okay.

That is so sad!! We don't baby proof unless it is something very dangerous or something. We just teach them what they can and cannot have/touch and so far it has worked. Never heard a story like this though :( makes me think more. I am slightly helicopter though, but I am working on it!

i live in a house a little smaller same age and look. we have correra marble in my bathroom. it is honestly a pain in the butt. if the counter is barely wet and you put a can of hairspray it stains the most ugly brown. you definitely made a good discussion
