I like what you said at the beginning, that you even kind of recommend other people´s channels and I hope there will be colaborations with you, H.Legends, Weeb and/or others again. Given the developments on the battlefield aswell as on the "diplomatic" level and with not much more than a month left in this year, it might be the right time very soon to discuss the state of this war on a broader scale with a few people (not open-mic-many people), perhaps a little review of the last almost 3 years, the map changes but more important how the war itself changed over time, how it escalated more and more, on the battlefield and in politics of all parties, who´s exhausted how much and what the chances are for the future. Your analysis is usually good, but you are way off on Bakhmut! The Battle for Bakhmut is a crucial reason why the Ukrainian counteroffensive in summer 2023 failed so badly. Wagner may have captured the city with higher losses than they'd like, but the Ukrainians also lost some of their best troops holding Bakhmut for months, even though the city was completely cut off, and they will eventually lose it anyway. Bakhmut is also strategically important frontier city for future operations against the Konstantinovka-Slovyansk conurbation. If Russians don't have Bakhmut, their line will be too far away. Because Russians have Bakhmut, they have a hold on half of Chasov Yar - the strategically important highest ground in the region - and will eventually take that city too. This isn't possible if Russians only hold a line in Lugansk oblast.

I think there was a point to Bakhmut in that it kept Ukrainian forces tied up while Russia got its act together on defense, building fortifications and training the newly mobilized. The loss of so many soldiers is regrettable, of course, but let's be blunt here. Prisoners are more expendable.

I follow THETI mapping, I find his take interesting. He does try to map unit locations, but they are only general indicators; he knows, and mentions, that elements from a unit may be deployed elsewhere. Also I don't actually know how he gathers this information, so I have no opinion as to how reliable it is. But I have to say this whole war has really made me miss my army stacks, as in the Total War series (and others). The inability to see where troops are located is frustrating.

I also follow him, although I agree although he tends to get into too much detail, which is not relevant always for most of the public. Like Weeb , he gives quite a lot of importance to topography, in explaining events which is fine. I think he could make them shorter and a bit more agile and save him a lot of work. In any case he seems a nice chap, tries to be unbiased and rather conservative in his assesments.

I would not be so quick to discount the strategic advantage of Bakmut and Solidar. Solidar has vast underground storage for munitions and supplies and Bakmut has a railway station which should have been repaired by now. That makes possible a huge offensive. Even if they never actually stage that offensive, the threat of it compels the NATO generals to deploy forces to prevent it

Russia's momentum in Donetsk no longer exist. The gains have slowed a lot because Ukraines dug in & forcing Russia to use frontal tactics & thats why your not hearing any updates in those regions. These pincer moves are being defended against & Ukraine is counter attacking & taking back some positions they'd lost earlier & while its not enough to be considered gains for Ukraine it is halting Russia's plans & forcing them to refocus their efforts on retaking these positions. Also Ukraine is building defensive positions with concrete & metal & water draining features. I've heard some Ukrainians say they are pleased with this but asking why didn't they do this a long time ago? The truth is in the next couple Months this War is going to transform into something good like a settlement & ceasefire or Ukraines going to get provided with the support Biden was to scared to give. How it goes will depend on Russia's response to a settlement.
