Turn your gas down on the pan once it's smoking. Do the steak 1 minute on each side then go to a medium heat 😊

What is it with British people that most think seeing fat in steak is bad? Generally a nice marbled fatty steak will be much juicier that a lean piece. You had a couple of long bits of 'silverskin' thread through those which does not break own and should be cut out first.

Fat gives steak flavour, but gristle is terrible in a steak. I stopped by sirloin steak because there was to much gristle in it. I buy fillet steak or a good rump steak now.

Shame that it turned out so poor as it sounded cracking with all those ingredients. I bought some "premium" tender Lamb steaks from Asda`s and it was the worst meat for gristle that I had ever eaten. It makes you wonder what the suppliers are feeding their livestock to save money. One of the things I love about your channel though Keith is that you show when things go wrong or taste poor so it`s proper cooking to me and not manufactured for a TV programme. 🙂

A decent steak should not need additional flavourings, only salt is required. Anything else ruins the flavour. I think the pan was way too hot in this as well, maybe adding butter would help, and reducing the temp. Oil cooks very hot, its goot to put a sear on a steak at the beginning, then you add butter and baste, butter boils at a lower tempreture than oil so reduce heat to not burn the butter.

Rump steak? Cuts from the rump are very tough and require a different type of cooking. I would make pounded steaks out of them, dredge in a light flour and brown in a pan. Put meat in a casserole dish, cover with a gravy and bake at 350 for an hour in the oven. Serve with mashed potatoes and gravy

When you cook your stake put it in the pan before you turn it on ,then cook on a very low setting for the first say 10 minutes gradually turn it up but not too high . A steak has to be done lowly and slowly. When it is nearly cooked say after 20 minutes add the marinade and keep the pan on very low for another 10 minutes.the stake was not poor it was how you cooked it.

No you don’t you cook in a very hot pan , think you will find that’s how professional chefs cook steaks , the way you are saying the steak would be overcooked, he cooked them properly it was the fact the steaks were poor quality that was obvious when they were raw and he prodded them

Way too much seasoning , the second ingredient in it was salt so maybe taste the seasoning before coating the steak with half the pot. Also pan was way too hot.

I mean, I love that you are trying to cook but you can just dump a load of seasoning on and fry it. You could have left in the fridge while it dry marinated then scrapped of the seasoning, or dropped the steaks in a sealed bag and put them in a pot of very hot tap water which for most people is 55˚C, keep topping the water with as hot water out of the tap as you can. As long as the temp is roughly there for half an hour then you could pat them dry, removing all the seasoning. Heat your pan up ripping hot, rub a little oil on the meat and sear it off 30 seconds a side. I use a sous vide machine rather than hot tap water, but I have done it the other method, it does help.

Hi Keith'n'Nat..nice to see you both..💐..I would give up on the steak as it was too tough..and cut it into small pieces..put it in the slow cooker with potatoes/carrots etc..cook it slow..for tomorrow..then I would have fried an egg..maybe sausage if available..and eaten that instead..that way the meat will be tender and worth eating..😉 XX

think just a bit of oil on the steak with salt pepper and garlic salts would be better my steaks turn out good. adding that powder when hitting a hot pan just burnt, and the amount of cooking time was too long. But may be a better choice of meat would have been better. I have had Denver steaks from morrisons and they have been good. even at 1 to 2 min an side. and cutting thin slices so you can taste the meat I find putting whole potatoes in a electric pressure cooker for 10 minutes then slice and sprinkled with salt and little oil and put in the Halogen work out really nice. no need to dry them and dirty other dishes

I think I've only ordered a big pack from Musclefood the once and the meat was a very mixed bag. Some was okay but a lot was sort of own brand budget level, and I wouldn't use them again. Seasonings with sugar are always hard on the hob I find, they catch like mad! Hey, at least you tried!

I think everything went wrong from the start, steak was very poor quality, too much marinade applied to the meat, too much oil used steaks only need a light coating, pan was too hot which burned the marinade which also prevented the steak from cooking evenly, i never keep flipping the steaks while they are cooking, also the butter should be put on while the steak is resting for best results, peppercorn sauce with brandy? shouldn't be allowed, apart from that everything else looked good🤣🤣

I always par boil homemade chips , that muscle food from the reviews is a hit or a miss with meat so I’m not surprised at the steak being tough you could tell when you pressed on it when it was raw , not the cooking at all just crap steaks Andy. The packet sauces are usually crap

Your steaks started to go wrong with the seasoning and sort of went downhill from there. I only season mine with a little salt after lightly oiling the steaks and only turn them once. I know the steaks came in a meat package but I stopped using rump steak and use ribeye instead.

From looking at the amazon page for the marinade stuff, I think you're supposed to use much less (the packaging for the various dry marinades all say dust/sprinkle) and let it sit for fifteen minutes (which I think you did do that part) - I reckon the idea is that there's just enough of the marinade that the moisture from the steak kinda rehydrates it so it becomes almost like a wet marinade by the end of the fifteen minutes?

Be interesting to see another video trying the marinade again, using less of it, and with a better steak!

Hi Keith & Nat, I buy fillet steak from Aldi, take it out of the fridge and place it into the frying pan (no need to pat dry) add about a table spoon of olive oil to each steak and turn the steak over, don't add any more oil then add 1 twist of himalayan salt & 1 twist of black pepper, no need to add any of that crap, you want to be able to taste the steak, leave it in the cold pan now crack on with doing your chips etc until you're ready to turn on the heat, I turn my heat on full but I am constantly turning the steak should take about 3/5 mins depending on how rare you like it. I hope this helps, lots of luv from the old fart xx
