In Kidderminster, Worcestershire, last week I was driving home along the A449 and came across temporary lights at a crossroads at the top of a hill. The roadworks were there because one of the normal traffic lights had been hit by a car a few days before. Four-way control, so one side was going at a time. I was at the front of the queue waiting at the red light when a car overtook the queue (bear in mind this queue was going down a hill) and went through the red just as the oncoming traffic had got their green light and had started coming towards us! He managed to weave through, but still!

Many years ago, the Great Burstin Hotel used to be OK, as I used to take coach parties to it. Either old people on a break or "booze cruisers". How people drive on flooded roads in my area is pretty much a running joke - the most regularly flooded section of road has an elevated footpath, at least 2 ft if not more above the road. In the flooding last week there were 2 cars stuck, the flooding was high enough to cover the elevated footpath, and someone else evidently decided it would be a good idea to write off their car by driving through floodwater at least 2 ft if not more deep. It's flooded again today with one of the cars from last week's flood still not having been removed (or at least it hadn't last night when the road was clear.) There's only been one time in recent history there where there hasn't been anyone get stuck there!

I have been driving almost forty years now and the standard of driving is definitely going downhill 🤔 when I was a kid there used to be a cycling proficiency test run by the police why can't we have the Dutch idea of having number plates on bikes. Was asked once by a passenger in a staff shuttle bus (local hospital) why I had not pulled out of a junction saying they could get their car out quicker my reply (A) this is a lot bigger (B) your car is quicker (C) my responsibility is the safety of the passenger's. I strongly agree with you about cyclists/electric scooter riders having their own rules it's not just them where I live we have special idiots on mobility scooters who drive on the wrong side of the road one forced a large truck to stop. At the moment my current vehicle is a 4x4 and thinking of starting a website or KZbin channel shaming the idiots who give us a bad reputation as the minority cause the problem.

15:32-15:58. You've been picked up before for not allowing extra room and time for buses. Rule 223 of the Highway Code says "Buses, coaches and trams. Give priority to these vehicles when you can do so safely, especially when they signal to pull away from stops. Look out for people getting off a bus or tram and crossing the road." At 15:40 the bus had seen you slow down for the van turning left and took that as an opportunity to pull out. You had time to react and allow the bus plenty of room. You were, quite rightly, happy to pull out from lane 1 to 2 at 8:05 to allow merging cars to join the road, but why did you have such a problem with letting the bus out?
@PS-fl7etАй бұрын
I would go further with this and say that the bus pulling out looked like the only sensible option here as I am not 100% sure the van could clear. If LDC had continued before the bus emerged he would’ve ended up in a back of the van Much ado about nothing with poor road awareness of everyone
