OPM isn't about getting stronger, overcoming challenges, training of MC, OPM is about internal struggle, trying to find something in life. I'm 100% sure that you heard about "with great power comes great responsibility", but saitama is "hero for fun", he f! destroys standard hero theme. OPM shows viewer/reader schemats of typical hero story and destroy them, is it boring? Boring is watching super hero movie while every single one of them is the same, OPM is trying to do something new. I'm personally sick of every story where MC is destroying every single obstacle, author makes it look like struggle, but you know that MC will win. What is the difference in fights scene between saitama and any other shounen character? Well there is only one, saitama finish his opponent in one punch, while shounen character use every single scratch of his power and need 20 episodes to win. There is no satisfaction in saitama fights(and if you watched hundreds of typical battle shounen manga you will feel the same dissatisfaction in these battles as well) and his struggle comes after fight with this dissatisfaction. Saitama need development in his mind and intelect, not in strength. OPM is supreme parody/satire of every single hero story. XXI century people struggle with meaning crisis, and OPM is about this. Look at genres of OPM, it isn't action, fights, shounen, it is seinen. OPM is story for adults who are bored of constantly repeated stories, rewtritten with characters changes(well, at least sometimes), but without true story changes(i only know one exception in shounen genre). Weak MC becomes strong after many battles of constant struggles with stronger opponents and after beating hundreds of opponents you put happy ending. I have no longer fun in these stories, well with exception of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagan(but this one is different from other battle shounens).
