This was an unexpected gem. I enjoy Dylan O'Brien's movies especially this one and American Assassin which I highly recommend Badd Medicine watch ASAP. I also hope there's a sequel to this film and I'm betting it will be just as good as this.

The "Love" in Love & Monsters isn't about romantic love. It's about love for family, love for strangers, love for animals and self-love. I don't think a lot of people realized that. Dylan was fantastic, per usual. He has not had one bad performance yet, he always delivers.

I like that even if Joel didn’t have a big part in a colony. They still cared about him, even if he’s not useful in close combat. They hold him up highly because he’s the only one that can keep a positive mindset, my personal opinion.

I actually really loved how they weren't together at the end, because it felt like a very realistic and mature decision on both of their parts. they hadn't seen each other for 7 years, during which they both grieved friends and family and faced lots of hardship, so it makes sense that they wouldn't really connect right away after all that. I can definitely say that if I lost contact with someone I was close to for such a long time, it'd be hard to pick up right where we left off even if there WASN'T a monster apocalypse going on 😂😂 but I loved how the movie ended on a very open-ended note, especially in terms of their relationship because it left room for perhaps a sequel to happen where they're able to reconnect and reignite the spark once they have more time/space to do that.

This kind of thing is more Dylan's roots considering his very first role was as the goofy sidekick that carried MTV's Teen Wolf series. The action roles came later... it's too bad the accident on the Maze Runner set derailed him in so many ways (mentally and physically and both of those changing the trajectory of his career). I kind of lost track of him on his hiatus, but I hope he's happy.

Oh yes!! More Dylan :) He’s my favorite actor and he’s so good in everything he’s in because he has so much range and versatility from funny and comedic to badass and evil (and everything in between). I hope you guys watch The Outfit and Flashback next because they’re some of my favorite roles of his, aside from my all-time favorite roles of his, which are Stiles in the Teen Wolf television series and Thomas in The Maze Runner movie trilogy 🥰 (Oh and I also really loved him in American Assassin as Mitch. You know what? Like I said earlier, he’s great in everything and I’m glad you guys are already obsessed with him because he’s truly one of the best actors of this generation ❤️)

I watched it pretty soon after it came out, something about being at home right in the middle of COVID lockdowns made it hit pretty hard with the solitude, radios, being separated from loved ones... But it's also really fun and charming. Dylan O'Brian delivers as always, I love Joel's journey towards confidence in himself. Boy, Minnow and Dutton are great. I adore the post-apocalyptic nature and urban design plus how they made the creatures unique in looks and more complex than just Big Bad Monsters. It's somewhat of a comfort watch for me now.

I love this movie. It reminds me of the old school family friendly adventure movies from my childhood like back to the future, the goonies and of course stand by me. I love that i (44f) can watch it with my 10 year old and my 70 something parents and we'll all enjoy it. I like that the romantic love story wasnt a happily ever after ending. It was hopeful but realistic, and it left room for the real story of the journey over the destination and leaving only to realise what he already had at home. Its a coming of age movie more than anything else. Hes just coming of age a few years later than usual as he kind of stopped growing and maturing whilst in the shelter.

I'm so glad Oak is letting us know about ST's connection to this movie through the producer. During the scene where Joel freezed, because of the trauma he had with the death of his parents, I couldn't help but think back to Will freezing in front of the scene-you-know-which at high school (S4, yes I'm trying not to spoil). Many fans haven't understood his inability to react and yet, psychologically speaking, it's the exact same process. A very large trauma or multiple small traumas have the same consequence. Anyway, thank you very much for your reactions and your kindness. In France we have literally no one with this quality of reaction. You are a breath of fresh air. Thanks again! ...and plz watch D.O'B's 2021 movie "Flashback"/"the education of Frederick Fitzell" when you can. Love from France ;)

This is such a sweet little movie and I'm so happy about that positive response and the love for Dylan! That's what I was hoping for. I thought I was the only one on that mission "turning you into Dylan fans", but reading the comments told me otherwise, haha. I'd love to see you guys doing all his other stuff. Though, the movie I very highly recommend is 'Flashback'. It's very weird and different to his other movies. But so wow. Dylan really shines in that one. On another note, maybe you'd like to do 'The Queen's Gambit'. It's a Netflix series about chess, but not boring at all 😉 Thomas Brodie-Sangster is in it, who, you know, was in the Maze Runner movies as well and is (next to Dylan) my favorite actor, hehe..

Because of love joel was able to get through this and it’s because of love he was able to go back to his colony. This made me think of The Last of Us and interestingly enough, in both this movie's universe and the TLoU universe, dogs don't get infected. I think my only complaint is Mav1s never got to go on the adventure. Like maybe he could have kept her head in his backpack and attatched it to a working robot in a later settlement. I think this was gross enough that I couldn't watch it in full in theater, but more Dylan always makes me smile.
