TIP - in QCAD you can enter math formulae so you can enter "24/22" and it will work out the answer for you save you needing a calculator

The steps in Inkscape result still in the same filesize even if I reduce the image 4 times in both x and y .. it's a 2MB file and I need to reduce it to below 200kB.. so I figured reducing by 16, or 4x4 would do the trick the filesize however doesn't change at all any thoughts?

I do sewing for under-privilege children around the world and in so doing I have a pair of scissors that is ONLY TO BE USED ON CLOTH MATERIAL. So, I have found a scissor cozy pattern to hold one's scissors when not in use or traveling. It was a hand drawn image, so I used Trace Image in Inkscape, which worked. Then Duplicate the Object, next, I wanted to show the 0.25-inch seam allowance that when printed & cut out, it will show where to cut the material for this pattern. This new size was to be a dotted line on the outside perimeter. This is where the 0.25-inch became a problem. I locked the Width & Height and added the 0.25 inch (+0.25). Looked great at first but noticed after Centering Objects to the Largest Object. The new larger size Object was out of proportion in certain areas. Mainly the curved lines were the issue. The shape is like a shoe, straight from heel to top & from heel to sole of the toe. Then it curves from the sole to the top of the toe. From there it goes at a slight angle until coming to the shoelaces. At this point, the angle increases until reaching the top of shoe. Better than this is side view of a shoe, kinda, sorta. I have tried using Tiles, same results, any ideas?

Hi! Thanks for the information. I have a question though, I opened up my file did exactly as you did but the artwork was way bigger than the square white page behind it. Is that right? I am a really newbie at using SVG files and understanding Inkscape. I am more familiar with Photoshop. If I used Photoshop I would know what to do but with Inkscape I am lost. Would be great if you know...Thanks, Carrie

The white page is just the preset document size. It is not necessary to fit the design to the document page size. Instead, once you've sized your design to your liking or needs, with the design selected, you can go to Flie - Document Properties - and use the "resize to content" button. That will adjust the document size to automatically fit your design. Hope that helps

Why do the units specified in Inkscape not just carry over via your dxf?
