Thanks John, for reviewing this underrated and underappreciated artist. The Pilgrim is one of my favorite all time albums, I love every song on it 13:06 and there is so much variety in writing. Great stuff on After the Pearl too. Would love to see those albums remastered. Of course what he did with Badinger was outstanding. I saw Joey perform a coupe of times. The second time was in Manhattan, Kansas, in 2002, in the park in an outdoor pavilion. There were some young guys in the audience who requested the song "Got to Get Out of Here" and he played the song which was not part of his set list. They thanked him when he completed the song and he said to them, "Thanks guys and thanks for even knowing the song." It was such a special night. He talked to every last fan afterward who wanted to chat or get an autograph.

John this is a great list !! Hard to believe that you did not pick "The Magic Of Love". This would be inside my top 5 songs ever from Joey!! One regret i always had is that BEAUTIFUL piano riff from "In My Heart" was not much more dominant throughout the song!!

Saw Joey perform twice with two different versions of Badfinger. Both times he spent at least an hour after the show talking with the audience and signing stuff. He came across very humble and grateful and of course had great Beatles related stories. Hang in there Joey.

Great selection of Joey tracks - his solo albums are incredibly underrated as are his songwriting contributions to Badfinger overall! I would also throw in a few Natural Gas songs for good measure. Keeping Joey in our thoughts and hoping for more great music ahead

"I Can Love You" was actually one of the 2 songs on Ass that Todd Rundgren produced, along with "The Winner". I met Joey, and Mike, around 2000 at a small club gig and after he sat at a table with me and a few others for well over an hour, talked and signed all my Badfinger albums. They had to almost drag him onto the bus he was enjoying talking so much. A truly gracious and generous guy. I'll never forget it. Mike, on the other hand...mildly polite, but definitely not the most gregarious guy.

Joey is like David Grohl of Nirvana. Men who were initially overshadowed by the immense talent in their original groups but would eventually be recognized as a legendary musician deserving of their own legacy. Praying for Joey & his family.

It's kinda funny, becuase Joey and Pete wrote the most songs, and both of them carried the band in the first 2 Warner albums.

Sad to hear he’s not doing well but glad he has somebody. Kind of wondered what would happen to him after Kathy died since they were so close. He’s an underrated songwriter.

Joey's first solo album has some really great writing, and playing, The Pilgrim, This Way Up and recent one with Mark Hudson. Also considering all the music business problems the guys in Badfinger could still write really great songs! Lifting Joey and family in prayers!🙏 Thank John Heaton for your Top 30 songs today!

Very sorry to hear this news about Joey Molland. Badfinger have been one of my favourite bands since the early 1970s.

Hi John. It's Eliot Wien from NYC. You mentioned Colony Records. I was the manager there for many many years!

Hi Eliot that’s great…I have many fond memories of Colony and was sad to see it go!

You clearly meant "The Dreamer", not The Winner" from Airwaves. Some of my favorites not mentioned are: "Some Other Time" from Wish You Were Here "Still I Love You" from Return to Memphis "Come Down Hard" from Airwaves "This Time" from Be True To Yourself "Shine" from Be True To Yourself "Christmas Song" from Natural Gas

I'm going to nominate one of my fave Molland tunes, Do You Mind - a beautiful bonus track on the 2010 reissue of Ass. Hard to understand how it didn't make the cut in 1973. Do you mind revising your list John?!

Am really thinking of Joey. Did you consider the 'Be True to Yourself' album? Some good songs on that one.
@seamack3Ай бұрын
No. 11 is not 'The Winner' which is a crappy Joe Tansin song. 'The Dreamer' is the song on Airwaves written by Joey with Pete Ham in mind.

Yeah sorry about that…you are right off course! (Yes The Winner is bad!)

"Sweet Tuesday Morning" must have been the first Joey Molland song I heard as it was the B side of the "Day After Day" single. Excellent song.
