You keep saying "marine iguana", and all my mind conceives is a lizard in military uniform. Saurian fi!

What a coincidence, I'm working on a mini comic! Lighting is playing a big role in the storytelling for me. The first part of the story is all toned in soft yellow ochre, while the ending, taking place somewhere new in another time, is in dark blues and violet. Colour is such a useful tool in visual storytelling, it can be subtle but very effective. Thanks for the demo, it really bolstered my confidence to finish this project!

Really big fan of behind the scene videos like this. Well done guys! 👏🏽 Question though do you think you guys can sort your shorts into different topics like coloring and lettering into longer compilation videos?
@badinkstudios2 ай бұрын
We have the shorts organized via playlists and are definitely working on compilations as well!

I noticed your layers panel has a lot of space, when I tried doing something similar in my own setup it immediately felt a lot cleaner and less cramped so thank you.

On traditional art form, how do you make your lines more expressive at the right area?

how did you perfectly make the traditional outlined art, and transfer it digitally?

Any scanner works, but it’s more about being careful with the settings when you prep your scanned file for coloring. Adjusting contrast and levels, etc

Im just curious.... You often praise the analogue mediums of comic making, and really seem to have fallen in love with them, but you decide to keep the colouring digital. Why is this? Is it simply a cost or time saving measure or is there something about digital colouring that truly cant be achieved with analogue mediums?
@CalvinLee6062 ай бұрын
Mainly just the range of colors you can do, I think.
@badinkstudios2 ай бұрын
Digital is amazing too. Especially for coloring, where I can try multiple color palettes and tones to see which I like better, without being locked into something. I’m more of a “storytelling first” colorist, and sometimes I want to try different options to see what expresses the story the best

any mention of "lizard brain" hurts my soul but this is a wonderful video!! very helpful for art!!! Just not scientifically accurate as triune brain theory has been considered outdated for years 😅
