Using a left-handed trainer is a bit confusing to me to apply. I had to slowed the playback speed to 0.5x to understand this video and yet still not clear 100% :( Yet I grew up in an Asian country which so many times won badminton's world cup & I played badminton since i was little. Perhaps I have to watch this video about 5-6x to completely understand the video. Overall, I like the ways how they explain things.

I've been playing badminton for 2 years, and I always remember my tutor telling me that last time, that the racquet does not "spin" during your play, the only correct grip is the forehand grip. This is what happen to me, that forcing myself to stay on forehand grip no matter how the shuttle coming, causing me really hard to return the shuttle sometime, because all I remember is, only forehand grip is the correct grip. After this video, now only I acknowledged that, you guys did "spin" the racquet on your hand while playing depends on the direction of the shuttle, thats really answered my mystery of the century.

Thanks guys! I've come to badminton late in life, but really love it!! I've spent the last couple of years trying to undo all the bad habits that I'd self-developed over the previous three. Grips was what I started with and, as you say, with perseverance using the right grip becomes natural quite quickly. What I still find I have to be conscious of though is keeping my grip relaxed until the point of hitting the shuttle - my default is still to be "tense" and "tight" - getting there though 🙂 thanks again for all your helpful tips 👍

@Badminton Insight The tip for the Bevel grip, where you're advising to turn the racket clockwise is only applicable for left handed players right? As in for the right-handed players it should be counterclockwise? If a right-handed player turned the racket clockwise from the backhand grip, the angle would be 180° wrong

Hi, nice video. I have a question. Where do we hold the grip. Is it on the lower part of the handle or on the top part of the handle. And does it differ based on the shot? Like for serving you hold it high and for other shots lower?.. and it it to be held loose...and if you hold loose then when to grip it tighter?

@BadmintonInsight
@BadmintonInsight 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! :) Some top players use the panhandle grip (especially the Koreans), this is just the way that they're taught. Generally, we could recommend the forehand grip, as it's quicker to change to a BH grip from here if the shuttle comes across to that side! Hope that makes sense :)

@@BadmintonInsight thats good thank you guys for the videos! If you need a video idea then perhaps a how to score points against strong defences? Where to smash to generate short lifts/loose blocks and forehand net kills on tight spinning net shots. I find the "swipey/ fast winderscreen wiper " technique very tricky and my usual pan handle "pop" is only effective when it's loose. Not when it's tight. Seeing pros practice this could be good for us mere mortals...😁

Each grip is for different circumstances- what you set up in often depends on what shot you’re expecting from your opponents! (Eg if you’re in defence you’d set up in a BH grip because they hitting it back to you in defence is most likely so you’d want to be in a BH grip). Hope this makes sense!

Good video. Can u also make a video on how to quickly shift the grips during play? Let's say I do a backhand serve and quickly need to change my grip to forehand.
