On impact which fingers do you tighten and how does this affect your grip (in forehand overhead shots e.g. smash and clear)?

You sont tighten the grip you just smoothly “touch” the shuttle so you take away the speed to create the deception👌🏻

Sorry for this amateur question, but what is the correct grip when starting rotating for a smash and also at the very last moment of hitting a smash shot? Should it be the forehand grip all the way or does it start in a forehand grip and end in a hammer( panhandle) grip as the result of rotation? Especially I am curious what is the correct grip at the very last moment when hitting the shuttle for a smash.
@BadmintonFamly

If we compare the forehand grip you show (with the "V" between thumb and index finger laying on the bevel) and the forehand grip in the badminton basics series of the Shuttle Life channel, we can see they look pretty different (the V in their case is on another part of the racket). Why is that? Is it basically the same and has no importance or do you think one way is better than the other?
@BadmintonFamly
@BadmintonFamly 4 жыл бұрын
Yes i can see the difference but in general you can do both, but also depends on the ankle of your wrist. I use a more twisted(rotated) ankle on the wrist than they do. My wrist is very flexible and i like to do this so it is easier for me to add power to my shots where you rotate in the forearm and a bit in the wrist to get a clean hit.... Think it is individuel what you like the best 😉

@@BadmintonFamly Thanks a lot! It's just that sometimes a different wrist position seems to affect my shots a lot and I change it all the time, making me very inconsistent. I'll try to just choose one and stick to it!
