Just love how Nick wasn't taking any chances and sat WELL behind the movement coming into every jump on Erol. Very sensible.

Nick rode him really well and had the strength and confidence, but you could see how much you and Errol have a bond he looked settled and comfortable with you. I think they definitely know our voice, smell and touch and the trust we build with our horses makes a huge difference 🧡🇦🇺

Lovely vlog, thank you. We do tend to forget that competition horses don’t come ready made even if it’s in their blood, they still need, shaping & time, good experiences that will set them up for life.

It’s a funny thing with young horses like Erol. (We have one.) You restrain yourself as they grow up and learn things, because they’re not mature yet. You don’t want to overface them, so you take your time, take your time. And then overnight it seems like they become mature enough, but we still treat them like they’re immature. Until someone says to us, go on, he’s ready, he’s all grown up now, it’s all right to ask him more. Glad you got Nick to get on first and get the heebie-jeebies out. No shame in that. When you got on and rode him, you could tell you asked him for more, and he was ready to give it to you.

Wow, everyone was awesome! Izzy, you & Tiny are really starting to look like a team. I've always found that learning a new skill is like organizing a very messy room; it seems to get worse & worse & harder & harder as you go along until you are sure it will never come right. And then suddenly, there is a place for everything & you know how to do it & POOF! it all comes together. So I hope you don't give up, especially with a nice horse like Tiny. Erol will be a superstar, he's already grown up sp much, figuring out that he can trust Ashley not to put him into shark-infested waters or collapsing indoor arenas! Imagine how steady he'll be next year! Everyone gets cookies & a nice hot toddy after this excellent training!

So very proud of you and Erol too. I know how scary it can be and having Nick run through first was the best decision. Still, I'm impressed with your bravery. Sometimes it is really hard to push through what is a mental and physical block like that. Erol had to do it too so kudos to you both. Izzy? You and Tiny were awesome as usual. Big bro Tiny showed Erol how it is done!

Very interesting to watch. He was a little unsettled to start with the rider change over. Regarding the water thing, it looked as though he saw that distinctive yellow sand into dark water as huge boundary and then he initially frightened himself with his own splash. It looked as though for a moment, that his own spookiness with the water knocked his confidence to jump. Also, he was definitely more happy when you got back in the saddle. Great job.

Ashley, your horses get their confidence from you. You do everything for them. You ride them “all” of the time. Why would you not be their encouragement through their tricky times? Maybe recognise what their spook is, slow it all down (in this instance walk in the water with him) and move forward together. I have zero negatives of course, about you your choices and riders etc, BUT at the end of the day, you and your horse have to bond as one, so you need to meet your “spooks” together and bond through them. Please, I truly understand your fears, been there too many times to recollect, but working through those things with your horse will only build an impressive bond. No negatives here pal. Right behind you. But please, think about what the horse is thinking too xxxx

Erol's topline looking so much stronger. Starting to look athletic ! Izzy really reading her lines better...you can see her riding each stride now. Bloody hell, that voice ringing out is enough to make any horse shy, lol Simple question..no rings on Erol to stabilise his shoulder a bit ? The water phobia here could possibly be the murkiness of this water ? What an amazing training facility. No wonder the English are so darn good eventing !
