Not making excuses for Groves but he was lacking confidence & form in this fight. He has improved recently. His jab is back & his fitness has improved & as a result his confidence is back. I fancy Groves to be world champion. Anyway, an out of form Groves looked better in defeat than a battered Degale in a draw.

Amazing that this a poor George Groves, yet he still arguably won this. The Groves in that first Froch fight becomes a unified champ at 168, those fights against a great in Froch so early on took the edge off him.

Have to agree with this Groves should of gained more 12 round experience before taking on froch I know it sounds stupid but I think Groves was a better fighter than froch but froch was very experienced and teak tough

Ya i agree Groves is definitely the better and more skillful fighter, but Froch had a crazy chin and warrior toughness.. If groves had gotten few more fights in before facing Froch, he wud have been able to seal the deal

@@kevinduffy9942 agree 100%, Froch relied heavily on his chin and heart in that fight. A more experienced Groves would’ve outboxed Froch.

George was the better boxer but frotch was the tougher man better chin and ko power.. frotch like him or not was a warrior never gave up could take alot of punishment wasn't the most technical fighter.. but was one of the toughest in the sport never gave up.. could hit him with a bus and he would get up and keep going then break his opponents with sheer will power and knock them out even after taking a beating.. for most of the fight.. frotch was one tuff man had no quit in him

@jonasaghylas4 жыл бұрын
Shadow of his former self? He beat Eubank in one of his best performances 3 years later
@abizzle1004 жыл бұрын
Jonas Hanifi he did and I’m not knocking Groves because I’m a fan, but he wasn’t the same fighter after the first Froch fight. I know he went onto win a world title after the two Froch defeats but I think they took a lot out of him and I think he always looked laboured in his fights after those losses. I think the fight with Jack looks better looking back considering after this he went up to light heavy, won a version of a world title and gave Stevenson all he could handle

@garyroberts16907 жыл бұрын
I think the scoring of the fight was fair. In fact I think it should have been a UD in Jack's favour. Groves was wilting slightly under Jack's pressure in the later rounds. Jack was throwing the more impressive combos late on to head and body which were scoring shots, plus they were telling on George. Also Jack's shots still had more snap to them. I think George needs to learn how to work an opponents body more. He has decent power especially in the early rounds but only ever seems to jab to the body instead of throwing hooks. George is definitely vulnerable to the body and if a fight with Callum Smith were to happen in the next year or so, he'd find himself in BIG trouble!
