I know a lot of people would love to see the WW come back. But, I think that the WW has a great legacy as one of the best dramas ever on TV. If it was brought back, it would be without Aaron Sorkin, Martin Sheen, or John Spencer. I'd hate to see its legacy diminished by doing some sort of reboot. However, I do hope Aaron Sorkin changes his mind and does another TV show in the future.

@@haydenpolsky995 I thougt that the Trump-presidency could've given them an opportunity to make a show with the gang not being in power anymore, but having to watch a republican rule in the White House - with only one or two members of the old main cast still being involved in politics, like Will being a more powerful figure in the house democratic caucus or one of Josh/Donna being a governor somewhere. And then they would get together again to run against that presidential incumbent. And on the White-House-side we could have the Republican characters we liked, like Ainsley Hayes, running the West Wing. Or maybe completely focus on a republican West Wing and only have the old main cast as guest characters every now and then.

I see a lot of comments wanting this show revived, or rebooted....i'm in opposition to this and here's why. This show was a masterpiece, I'm not American, and many of the issues went right over my head, but the characters were so well written, the dialogue so on point, that knowledge of the American politics wasn't necessary. I fell in love with this show, and any sequel or reboot will only diminish what the original achieved. This is just my opinion, and everyone is entitled to theirs....now lets walk and talk, whats next?
@DC_18944 жыл бұрын
Madcap Magician Your comment exemplifies the brilliance of this show. When an understanding of American politics isn’t necessary to appreciate a show that’s literally about a US president and his staff because the acting and dialogue are so outstanding, then you know you’ve truly got something special.

I would be against a reboot but not against a continuation/sequel series with an entirely new cast of characters. The good doctor is porrf that Sorkin can write great characters consistently and he would most likely be able to capture the magic of the West Wing again.

Brilliant show from first episode to last. But I think what really made season 6 and 7 so awesome was the way Alan Alda played Arnold Vinick. He and Jimmy Smits were both magnificent and they acted their roles to perfection. The loss of John Spencer was a hammer blow and yet the writers and actors somehow got through it and somehow seemed to perform even better. What a shame that shows like this have somehow become almost extinct and that we are awash with mediocre TV that depends on sex and explosions to replace great dialogue and superb writing.

Something else that was great about the fictional campaign: finding something for Josh to DO. Much like the show itself during Season 5, Josh had been left drifting: getting passed over for promotion, Donna leaving him, and being told to stay off Capitol Hill for no particular reason really. Bradley Whitford was (along with Dule Hill) the audience surrogate of TWW and having him idle was a drag. He needed a campaign to run.

You know the sad part about all of this; given how close this shows election was (literally one state), what the writers originally wanted, and the fact that this world was going into a 12 year democrat presidency; I honestly don't see any way the Santos administration could have lasted more than a single term. @MikeJames6 Any political monoculture breeds corruption. Who is around to keep them honest? The party machine ends up like the Church or any other monolith: if this state senator is having 15 affairs and must resign, he goes right into consulting for the party or something else. Companies begin to lean that political way to get favors in return... You need healthy competition or human beings of almost unparalleled moral fortitude and incorruptible ethics. Good luck with the latter.
@kevinw7124 жыл бұрын
@@MrBrachiatingApe I've been thinking lately that the US presidency should only be a single 5 year term. Far too much of the first term, no matter the party in charge, becomes a trade off to secure the reelect. Remove that element completely, know exactly what your whole span is going in. Your only concentration then is trying to accomplish what you said. Admittedly I did initially have this idea in mind with 6, but quickly balked at that being just a little too much, when it suddenly occurred to me, why are we so locked into this even years format? It's completely arbitrary. With being dead set on the single term concept, 4 then seems potentially too short, and too much of a radical change (though not like we don't know there will NEVER be ANY altering of the present set up), 5's a good compromise, what's it matter it's an odd number. Also if we're keeping Senators at 6 years they get a maximum of 2 terms. Literally no position in the govt should be a lifelong, complete career (don't even get me started on how dumb lifetime appointments are, for ANY govt post).
