The thing I love about this scene is that while the reunion is heart wrenching and Makoto is now married, we get payoff from Y0: Majima's sacrifice paid off. He gave up his love for Makoto (a love that she seemingly felt about him) and spurred the doctor to get with her because Majima knew that he couldn't provide the life and future that he felt she deserved because he's a Yakuza. And so while it must have hurt for Majima to let Makoto go, it was a sacrifice he knew needed to make and now he gets to see that it paid off: she's happy, healthy, has a loving family, and is living in comfort. His noble sacrifice was worth it.

I’m pretty sure that they retconned it out of existence. In Kiwami 2, which released in 2017 (five years after 5), it’s implied that Majima hadn’t stepped foot in Sotenbori since 1988.

@@ShadowThe771We never got word that Majima personally returned to Sotenbori in person, if I recall. I believe it was only stated that he kept contact when the picture gets revealed, which does imply that he only wrote after his departure in ‘88. EDIT : Nope, turns out I’m wrong and apparently they really did try and remove Mirei Park from the series entirely (and good riddance, her arc sucked and she was a vile bitch, I’m still mad they made Romi Park unlikeable). Majima was supposedly married in 1992 and divorced shortly after.

I liked how they wrapped up kiwami 2, it was enjoyable. Nothing made me ugly cry more than gaiden though, when she ever gets to that point.

Majima didn't want to pull her back into his life and I respect that so much, she already has everything and he resolved the 2 regrets she had left, she can now move on from him entirely and live a happy life far away from the horrors she had to endure

Most people just play 0, 7, and 8 but this is why they should also play kiwami 1&2. Goro Majima's Sotenbori story is nicely wrapped up in k2.

I was about to say why on earth would play in that crazy order of 0,7 and 8 but then i remembered oh yeah 7 and 8 were JRPGS.

@@DingoEnderZOE2 **cough** **cough** Takanashi Kiara (7>0>8) **cough** **cough** There are also some people skipping to 7 after Kiwami 2 or before for multiple questionable reasons and it really permanently affects the experience later on in 7 lol Judging from the playlist, Hakui Koyori and Usada Pekora are some of them. And Lize Helesta and Kagami Hayato from Nijisanji JP are the same things lol Hakui Koyori: K1>0>K2>7>Gaiden>IW Usada Pekora: 0>K1>7 Lize Helesta: K1>0>K2>7>3>4 Kagami Hayato: K1>0>K2>7>3>4>5>6>Gaiden Personally, never trust anyone before Y3 lol And now, Okayu and Bae are on the test list lol Not to mention, Subaru took over a year to resume her mainline walkthrough with Yakuza 3 since Kiwami 2 while Hayase Sou from Nijisanji JP just hopped in right away lol

@@DingoEnderZOE2 Probably Final Fantasy mindset where any numeric title are basically a starting point or rushing into the hype which happens all over the place lol There is also one tricky situation with the permission over the Yakuza 6 playthrough from Hololive member and Koyori is unfortunately one of them. I guess there are some sensitive spoiler plot telling causing the issue. Although Subaru during Yakuza 5 playthrough stated that she will play Yakuza 6 and then 7, we never see that coming for now since after beating that game. So for Hololive member, before anyone did the impossible, I personally would put one final additional test for Hololive member exclusively: Streaming Yakuza 6. And the only one that is currently in such huge test is Oozora Subaru. If any one of the Hololive members ends up streaming it without issue, that would be a huge deal for us lol

People should just play all Yakuza games. Sure, 3, 4, 5 are not the best in the series, but they are still good and relevant to the overall story. Like, imagine playing 7, 8 without playing the others, especially 6 and just sitting there not feeling anything about Kiryu’s moments

It's sad because at least part of him really doesn't think so. Even though him not being there for Saejima was in no way his fault, he felt that even if Saejima left prison, Saejima would have believed that Majima lived the good life while Saejima rotted in jail. Worst part is, Saejima even did believe it at one point and called Majima out on it before Majima revealed the truth (mostly because Majima wanted a good beating before revealing it). Good thing Saejima did believe him, too.

Yes in that situation he was his normal self again. Not the crazy mad dog persona he created. We can hear it from his voice which is similar to 0.

Ah yes I remember this in Kiwami 2...I remember being very annoyed with Maiimas initital reunion with Makoto thinking "Dude Majima its okay, shes married, has a family and is happy its perfectly okay for you to directly tell her who you are!" But nope they had to hurt you more.😅

It makes sense why Majima is so hesitant to tell Makoto who he is when you think about all the stuff that happened to Haruka just because she was associated with Kiryu.

Guy knows pretty well how awful the yakuza side of things was for her, and he's got plenty of enemies that'd just love to find a weak point in the Mad Dog of Shimano. So, sadly, it's definitely the right choice to keep it as quiet as he can.

She knew he was missing one eye, since he told her about it when they were sitting on that couch in the storage garage, and that he had a history with the Yakuza! How could she see a Yakuza wearing an eye patch and not immediately assume it was him? How many Yakuza wear an eye patch?! She would have been in constant danger if she was with him, and would have been a weakness for him that his enemies could exploit, but by that point, she was married with a kid and leaving the country, so I feel like he could have just told her it was him then.

Nah, one should play 0 after kiwami honestly. Clearly you need to know 0 to fully enjoy kiwami 2, but you risk going into kiwami skewed of you start with 0

@@starbound100 i disagree entirely, playing Kiwami 1 without the context and character/world building of 0 severly undercuts the relationships and characterizations of Kiwami. all those added cutscenes of Nishiki showing how he went from giga-bro in 0 to slicked back baddy of 1 would be wasted

@@umphreak9999 why would they be wasted when you can still see him "slip to evil" - as i believe the trop is called - and then later go to 0 and properly see that he was a very different person? i've seen _multiple_ people say that they dont have interest in kiryu or kiwami in general, after they played 0 as their introduction to yakuza. on the other hand i've seen people who have been fans of the yakuza series for years, be every bit as excited when they played 0 for the first time as new players are, because its fun to go back to the past and see where it connects to the "present" games. plus, the story is so good it can be a standalone game.

wdym lmao. 0 came after five, as a prequel. I think the perfect order to play it is the, well, the order they came out as. so starting with the original 1 and 2. and I think people who are telling you to play it after 5 mean exactly that. but if u don’t wanna do that then yeah, there’s really no point to play it after 5 if you replace ps2 y1 and y2 with remakes, cuz 0 is kinda crucial to fully enjoy them. esp no point playing Majima saga if u hadn’t played 0
