Fun fact: The reason you are not able to ghost olmec and only Yama is because the ghost would spawn during the cut-scene of the Olmec fight and kill you before you are able to move your character. I believe the ghost still spawned prematurely during the Yama fight as well but since spawning in the center of the boss level the ghost is unable to reach you. Since patch 1.4 of the PC version, you are now able to ghost Olmec and Yama as the ghost does not spawn until after the cut-scene.

I've heard about this eggplant run, what's the history on it? Did someone, like, look at the code and see "eggplant vs final boss=instadead boss"' only nobody could figure out how to get it there until this guy?

fractalgem The Xbox 360 version came first, and people knew about the eggplant but thought it was just a strange easter egg- no one found a purpose. Then the PC version came out and people were able to look into it more and some guy found two previously unseen sprites of the final boss colored purple with some file name including the word eggplant. Then someone used hacks to show that throwing the eggplant at Yama immobilizes him and gives him 1 health, but no one had legitimately got it there. Various people did it on multiplayer (the eggplant was probably originally intended for multiplayer given that everything bought is wrapped like a mystery box to sacrifice for the eggplant, and it should be theoretically impossible to get it all the way to hell solo, unless you got INSANELY lucky on 4-2 and got both a shop with a mystery box and an altar, which is basically impossible). Anyway then this came along and people figured that this can be used to get the eggplant and the hedjet, on a solo run. The last remaining problem was getting it from 4-1 to 4-2 when you would normally have to carry the scepter. The very clever solution was to unlock the robot character from the mothership and use him to carry the scepter for you. The first person to successfully complete a solo eggplant run was Bananasaurus Rex, you can find the entire run on his channel

Originally he was attempting to ghost Yama, which is achieved by angering Kali 3 times (assuming no sacrifices) and perma-spawning a ghost, this only works if the alter is destroyed after Olmec because perma-spawning one before hand gets you killed in the Olmec cutscene. After two kali alters you get the ball and chain, which upon dying teleported Baer out of the moai head, which someone in the twitch chat then gave him the idea to break the moai head (which is indestructible) with the ball and chain. It worked and was amazing.

Like Bisnap said I think that dying with the ankh resets Kali's anger, so when you destroyed the ball after that, it didn't come back. I think that I saw a post about this on reddit some days ago.

I ended up with a ball and chain after destroying two altars, even though Kali was happy with me at the time. I destroyed it with a falling block in the ice caves and it didn't come back. So, it seems as though the check to attach a new ball and chain to you at the beginning of a level is based on Kali's current anger, not on whether you've ever had one before. If a death resets her anger, this all makes sense.

Ok, so 1. I didn't get the headjet when I broke into the head, because I didn't break the block it was inside. 2. If you didn't know, if you break the 3rd alter, you basically instantly die at the start of the Olmec fight ;-; Found out the hard way.

The third time you destroy the altar will make the Ghost come immediately at the start of EVERY levels (including Olmec, you'll die during the cut-scene lol).

I just tried it without sacrificing myself and it totally works! Except you don't get the hadget, but you get a diamond instead... So you can use the ball and chain to break through the Statue but you only get the hadget if you actually sacrifice yourself!

Are you sure the hedjet and door aren't just inside the blocks in the head? Triggering the ankh destroys the blocks and frees the hedjet. If you just destroy the blocks with the ball and chain, maybe you would get the hedjet without triggering the ankh?

I'm guessing that dying does reset your Khali anger, but you got to keep the Ball and Chain because of the glitch that pulled you out of the Moai Head. Once you destroyed the Ball, the code that respawns the ball did not trigger because your favour had reset. I still have no idea what the eggplant is, so I'll keep watching 'til I find out :)
