The bafang M 600 is an awesome motor. I have The modified version from Luna cycle. (X-1 full carbon ) It peak powers at 2k Watts. I am about 250 pounds with all my riding gear on. I’m also on a carbon frame. And with the modified Ludacris controller and an M 600 motor it is insane how much power you get. I can climb just about anything all things considered. Definitely one of my favorite motors ever. My second favorite is the Bosch GEN for Smart system. Which I run on a Mondraker Crafty R.

Yes you can get numerous displays for the “Bafang” system so visibility isn’t an issue, I use the 500 display and it’s great. All Bafang motors come with an option for a throttle it’s part of their main harness as well as an option for a shift sensor, cut off brakes and of course a speed sensor. If you want a good workout Bafang isn’t for that but if you want to have a lot of fun…. Just remember more power higher watt usage. But there’s always a way to remedy that.

Ditch the old DPC242 display w/B&W screen. Go color and Bluetooth with DPC245...gives a smoother feel with more efficient battery usage. Plus, the power selector is smaller and more tactile. Been using the M600 since 2019.👊

The M600 is getting pretty old, bought mine three years ago. The M560 is the new lighter more powerful one. And get that, it fits in the M600 frame.

I have a emtb with a Bafang 820 motor & it equals my Transition repeater that I love to ride. I put together the Bafang bike as a backup. I only had $2000 in the Bafang which is a huge selling point. The geometry is almost identical to the repeater.

Yep. I've got the M820-75 Nm...not quite as powerful as the gf's Trek Rail Brose-85 on climbs but it gives a lighter bike overall for agility. I use M600 for big alpine climbing days.🤟

Could someone compare this to the new m560? I heard the m560 is a lot better at power delivery but it's a lot noisier because of the steel gears. I'm leaning towards the m600 but I'm afraid the power delivery will be bad.

I got the Bafang M620 160nm 1500 watt its more powerful than M600 however i think this M600 fits nicer than M620 which is large for a mid drive

@CrushedEMTB Yes, I run the M620 as well, it's an animal. I don't run it full power out on the trails. I don't want to wear out my drivetrain super fast, and I don't want to piss people off. It's great, but I need a better frame.

Another thing is in the Bafang programming assuming you can get the UART version and not the CAN version (newer) if can deep dive on all the perameters as far as torque, assist values.lots of info out there on the net as far as programming goes.

I wasn't sure I was going to like an ebike, so I didn't want to spend a great deal: you might take a look at the Superhuman F5. That's what I ended up grabbing and it has truly impressed me: decent componentry, endless battery life, and crazy power in a do-anything bike.

The M 600 has been around for years. It does have some power, but the controller sucks and I don’t mean that in a small way. When the power comes in, there’s a definite bump. The torque is not consistently applied given your input. The Bosch and EP8 far out classi it here. However, the Luna controller fixes a lot of these problems, but still not as good as Bosch. The best controller so far is on the new M560. It had major problems with overrun in the first versions they say they fix that, I haven’t tested it yet. The M560 is also more efficient and the M600. The other problem is the availability of good frames. If you want modern geometry, you’re very limited. If you want a properly sized seat, post with enough insertion for decent dropper you’re even more limited. I have gone away from Bafang and now right a Crestline with the Bosch race and it has all the power I really need. Besides you can’t go very far using all that power it just drains the battery.
@CrushedEMTB3 ай бұрын
Your only valid point is frame availability - a true problem. But there's no way a the CX or EP8 beat it. The M600 can match their power in mode 4 and it still has two more modes to go. It's actually pretty efficient in mode 4.
@NiToNi20022 ай бұрын
@@CrushedEMTB He didn’t say that the CX and EP8 outpowers the M600, he said they outperform the Bafang in how the controller is programmed to deliver its output, the response time and smoothness of the power/torque curve. And in this respect he’s definitely right.
@JoLe1991Ай бұрын
I prefer BSA bottom bracket motors, bafang had the M435 for a very short period, a motor that blew away everything else on the market, super smooth, super responsive and very powerful. Discontinued shortly after its release. toseven has come up with 2 interesting motors, also BSA mounted. The firmware is still a bit of work in progress, however the version I'm running now is very good. with all these BSA motors you get excellent cooling and a lightweight frame, however the smallest possible chainring is 40t or at least 42t. for an ideal build you pretty much need a custom built frame though, especially to mate rear suspension and a big battery in one frame.
@MGSDiego3 ай бұрын
Yeah these motors have been around for quite awhile. They are an offshoot from the 02,HD series motors which are DIY. Been riding my bike with the M620 for three years now and no issues. Funny a lot of the “bike expert reviewers” don’t include the 600 or 620 motors in their lists. Bafang are heavier for sure, I remember you used to get the 620 with a magnesium body for a bit but not anymore. Yes each motor has its own mounting pattern so you can’t swap motors to frames. There is a company out there that is making adapters to fit certain motors to some bike manufacturers frames.

@Zetler3 ай бұрын
The M600 is very DYI and lacks integration of other systems. Another problem is that it rides like a cargo bike instead of a eMTB. There’s almost zero low cadence torque in higher assist levels. It just wants to plow into a mountain of technical rocks at high speed and massive over runs.
