I live in Canada in the Alberta Rockies. Baffin Island amazes me on how untouched and remote it is. Most of those animals have never seen human life before. I am going to hike through those mountains someday. It will take a lot of money, mental strength and knowledge but I will get there someday.

I haven't been everywhere, but I'm confident Baffin Island is probably top 5 most beautiful places on earth. The fact that you have the entire place to yourself (although I recommend going with at least one other person and a sat phone for safety) is a huge bonus also. Its why I started going there after Iceland and Greenland both started getting overrun with tourism in the latter 2010's.

@@sky_folk Does anyone even look into why the noon-day sun is now blinding white in color instead of the very much yellow color the noon-day sun had always been 25 + years ago. It's fascinating how people will disregard this the biggest news story of the century. I think people must be under a spell not allowing them to think about what a massive change in the suns color means. No word about it from any source yet the proof is repeatable everyday, no one speaks a word, I'm glad I'm not controlled and can see this change.

Heya, its a bit of a trek to get to Baffin! Fly to Ottawa, Canada on whatever airline, then fly First Air up to Qikiqtarjuaq (you'll make a few stops along the way on smaller and smaller aircraft). Your last runway will be dirt :P -- then you'll need to have an outfitter scheduled to take you on to Baffin. You'll need to stop in at the ranger station before heading over to Baffin to get your park tickets (its more so that the park can keep track of people entering and exiting the park and whether the need to go looking for someone as well as mandatory polar bear safety training). Best time of year is late august through mid september, any later and it gets ICE cold real fast and ealier the water in the streams is higher and more challenging to cross.

Superb landscapes and editing, thank you for these 20 minutes. What about polar bear protection? I saw no one carrying rifles or guns. Is the population so low that this a non-issue in these parts of Baffin?
@sky_folk4 жыл бұрын
No weapons are allowed inside the national park except indigenous peoples. Outfitters (often Indigenous folks) do carry a shotgun to scare away any polar bears from the coastline landing area if necessary but during the time of year that we typically go, Polar Bears aren't often seen around the interior of the island, only near the coasts looking for food if they're anywhere. Sadly, yes, populations are very low. All people need to take a safety course before entering the national park and it covers Polar Bear safety.
