On 30 April 2013, journalist and writer Matthew Sweet interviewed Delia Smith on stage at BAFTA for a special tribute event to celebrate her body of work in television. During the interview Delia recounted tales of her career, from starting out as a shy young woman making her first foray into broadcasting, to 40 years later when she is the UK's best-selling cookery author and one of Britain's most popular onscreen presences.

I just love Delia. Discovered her years ago on KZbin; I’m in the U.S. Her very pleasant voice & calm, charming, demeanor in the kitchen drew me in immediately. I’m addicted to watching Delia cook her recipes (all the decades of her various programs.) She’s still very charming & her voice is still so pleasant to this day. Congratulations Delia; please keep cooking for us! 👏👏👏

Most schools don't teach how to cook now. I follow you. It's important to learn. Please never stop. We all need to learn. Thank you for your time teaching us. We'd be lost without you. You're King of Cooking and qualified. Thank you. Britain needs you.

“I wouldn’t be capable of being anything else, therefore it had to be the food that was the star because I wasn’t going to be a star in that way.” What great humility and insight. And this is why Delia has stood the test of time and still inspires new followers to this day.

Delioa always has been a wonderful cook. Her receipts work unlike many of the poncy cook books. The interviewer is appaling. She is a DELIGHT.

Why does the man ask three questions at once? They like hearing their own voice don’t they. Hint - nobody else does.
