@ Not all of them deserve to be considered, IMO games like Max Payne 1, 2… NFS Most Wanted, are some examples of games that deserve to be called ART. I grew up with them and loved them.
Жыл бұрын
@@andermendz what's art? that definition changes from person to person and I don't think we're at a time where (as a general public) we can or should rely on institutions to decide who or what is considered in their very narrow definition. While not all games are groundbreaking, they all involve an artistic process in all areas of their development.
@andermendz
@andermendz Жыл бұрын
@ Art for me is greatness in all the aspects of the game, from gameplay to the story and visual aspects, a great example of what you said is the recent AC: Mirage i'm sure that game was involved in several artistic processes, but it's a pretty bad game in my opinion, all games require creative and of course artistic “processes” but at the end it's something that we cannot explain like AC mirage, is not going to be remembered for equivalents like Story telling of MP1 or bullet-time from MP2, Story and gameplay of NFS MW and CARBON, or the atmosphere of S.T.A.L.K.E.R, Return to the Castle Wolfenstein , and the recent (I've been playing it a lot) Alan Wake 2.

Sam Lake and Remedy are forever GOATed in gaming culture. Sam Lake's face is so recognizable to many 2000s gamers! Those who know, know. Grew up playing Max Payne series and Alan Wake later. These games meant a lot to me and so many people, it was unique and pushed storytelling in gaming to the next level. And honestly, he looks Mr. Lake looks young enough to play a young Max still!

@@pyrox4549are they part of the same universe? Yes and no. You see in one world, he is Max Payne yet in a another he is a fictional detective whose name is Alex Casey. In one world there is a Jack Joyce (protagonist of quantum break) in another he is Tim Breaker the sheriff of Bright falls (Alan wake 2). In one world Alan Wake is a writer and in another he is Doctor Darling (control). They are, and they are not. There is a reason why remedy casts these same actors in different roles for the different games. They are connected but also they are not. And the one who connects them all and yet keeps them apart all the same is Mr. Door. It’s not a lake, it’s an ocean.
@tudorserban111

@@Sam-vk8xd Except that Alex Casey is clearly a nod to Max Payne, having the same face, voice and even outfit as Max from the first game. Hell, if Remedy hadn't sold the rights to Max Payne they'd have also called him Max Payne I bet.
@Sam-vk8xd
@Sam-vk8xd Жыл бұрын
@@tudorserban111 You’re right on that. Alex Casey is Max Payne in all but name and that’s only because of rights ownership. Although, Remedy has clearly left some doors (Warlin Door, hehehe) open so that maybe some day they can involve these other games into the world. With the whole worlds where he’s seen x thing and y thing happened in Dylan Faden’s (Control) end game dialogues and even Tim Breaker’s (Alan Wake 2) dreams about being someone else somewhere else (clear reference to Quantum Break). I really hope Quantum Break’s rights come back to Remedy and they make a sequel and bring it into the Remedy-Verse. I mean having Telekinesis, O.O.Ps, Nightmares and Dark Presences mixed in with Time breaking events (easily an A.W.E) and time altering powers all in one world would be awesome.

It felt like magic to get such an ambitious, big budget, long, technologically boundary pushing game with such a unique, singular, and clear artistic vision. Remedy is one of the elite few studios who are able to make big budget ART instead of churning out profitable rehashes of old ideas. I'm blown away by the confidence of the creative decisions made in this game and how little they seemed to care about catering towards mass consumption. From the hefty PC requirements to the extremely slow & methodical pace of the story, to the far darker and more horrifying atmosphere, it all feels designed to create something so specific to them, and I absolutely love it.

lowkey love the fact that they shot Lake's interview right next to Tim's whiteboard

I would absolutely love it if some outfit took Remedy on to make a tv show, or even if they did it themselves, their short films were so good, and the last 2 game intros they made are just phenomenal, Control's intro blow most tv show intros out of the water let's not even talk about Alan Wake 2.

I'm glad that they are able to continue to make what they love and don't conform to most AAA standards, even when they fumble in the endings most of the time. I hope their future games, especially doing multiplayer turn out great. Don't lose your vision please.

Lançamento de Alan Wake 2 foi um suspiro na indústria dos video games, uma indústria em que cada vez mais CEO's que não sabem nada de jogos querem investir, mas que existam e resistam cada vez estúdios como a Remedy e tantos outros independentes.
