Gerry Berry how did he ruined 2049? Why is he a bad director? I want to know your reasoning
@williamdono
@williamdono 6 жыл бұрын
Gerry Berry First of all, Vangelis didnt want to return for not repeating himself. Zimmer and Wallfisch did great with the score and really hit the feels that the first movie score had. But thats just opinions, what you cant say is: the movie was too long. Tell me one scene that was not necessary for the movie. If you say some scenes were too long, in the sense when you let the camera on the character for 10sec more... Thats just a directive choice to let the viewers think, to take the moment and feel something. Next you didnt like Arrival, fine, but you cant say it was bad directing when, he was nominated for an oscar and not only critically aclaimed, but everymovie he made was critically aclaimed. Everything he touches is a success, a great movie in all aspects. Take any director to do BR2049 and they would probably have failed.. even Ridley Scott. The love of scifi for Denis is pure. You have a right to not like his movie, but saying he isn't a great director is wrong. Plus, if you dont like him that much, why on earth are you on a video of him??? Dune is in perfect hands, if you are not happy with it, then dont watch it
@williamdono
@williamdono 6 жыл бұрын
Plus it was not HIS decision to gat Hans and Benjamin but the studio because Johan Jóhannsson didnt like what he was doing with the score and he didnt think he was the right men to do it. Denis even said his biggest sadness is that the score wasnt nominated for an Oscar because it was one of the best of the past years.

I think he is better than Nolan. Nolan is a little old school and a classic movie snob. Denis's work lingers. BR2049 will be remembered as one of the best movies ever made. Not a single scene was bad and without purpose. It is a work of art. As great as they were, same cannot be said of Dark Knight and Interstellar, my favourite Nolan movies. Both directors are different beasts, end of day. But Villeneuve is by far one of the best of our generation. Incredibly difficult to make sci fi as amazing as Arrival and BR 2049.

Dunkirk was pretty great but I would consider that Nolan's first adult movie capable of lasting, whereas I would say the same of all of Denis' films (haven't seen Enemy yet). As the first reply says, I think PTA is a better comparison for greatness in our generation.

@Gerry Berry(Replies a week ago and comment is edited) Like I said it's nice to see that you still like your own comments. Edited again, why the rush? Shouldn't you respond back patiently? How mature of you. No wonder this evidently indicates why you have nothing better to do in life rather than pathetically contradicting yourself repeatedly by coming back on aged threads. Go figure. Are you still thinking about Villeneuve too? Wow dude you need serious mental help. Seek a therapist and maybe you'll eventually stop repeating the same argument that should've ended ages ago. Too bad you never learn though, how ironic, I wonder who's still cursing using my previous statement "retarded simpleton" How about responding back with consistent professionalism instead of still sounding like an impatient incomprehensible 5 year old who still doesn't understand how to have a proper conversation. This is the 21st century right? Too bad though, you're still the same comparatively. How pitiful.
@RDZX1089

@Gerry Berry See what did I tell you. How embarrassing of you to tell me your english is so professionally profound when you can't even spell jesus properly. Oh and how mature of you to add emojis, repeatedly like your own comment, along with editing it again impatiently just to make it sound better. It's really exhilarating on having a conversation with an neanderthalic 5 year old incomprehensible mess who still clearly knows nothing about having an actual proper conversation without even having any profanity. So you're telling me you actually got a life and changed instead of being a keyboard warrior? I was actually hoping you were right, but seemingly you still evidently contradict yourself by repeatedly coming back here to respond, only this time you still haven't learned about contradictory. Not to the fact that profanity and emojis are used only by typical millenials such as you who don't have any form of professionalism. No wonder why you want to make yourself look mentally disabled saying "I have a life and better things to do." Only that you don't, because clearly you still return on aged threads and repeatedly respond to argumentative conversations that should have ended ages ago. It's ok I understand. You clearly are someone who doesn't apply common sense whatsoever. Too bad you don't seek any professional help. Go figure. Nice to see that you still have a mental disorder that isn't resolved even after a year.

@@RideMyBMW No Gerry and your thoughts about blade runner being a franchise is wrong. It was never supposed to be a franchise anyway had Ridley not been so stupid in the first place to intend on making a sequel none of this b.s. would've happened. But no, of course Denis takes the blame since he at least didn't fuck it up as hard as Ridley did with alien. Oh and of course you'll probably bring up "but it bombed" sure it bombed just like the original but it at least never toyed with the ambiguity such as for example the mystery of deckard's identity still not being revealed whether he's a replicant or not. Ridley however, messed with the lore, mystery, and ambiguity of the alien franchise that made it so special by making unnecessary cash grab crap like prometheus and alien covenant. Lets say if Ridley did care about blade runner so much and make the "cash grab clichèd crap multi franchise" then he would have taken the risk and make the sequel himself especially take time of proper further planning for future developments. But no instead he wasted time doing other crap how shameful. Oh wait he's planning on ruining more of his gems by himself (cough cough) Gladiator 2. Let's see how that turns out.

POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT: I watched this last night, I went in dry having not watched ANY of the trailers or interviews and I am super-fan of the original. All I can say is BRAVO, it was a masterpiece, and I was so nervous that it would be a CGI overload but in truth I didn't see any, which in my opinion means there was just the right amount. Such sparing use of the tools that are at hand today. I wish I had seen this on the cinema, because even last night watching this on my modest TV but with the 5:1 turned up to 11 the sense of scale was breathtaking, and the soundscape had me welling up in all the right places, BRAVO. A thought-provoking perfect compliment to the original which I felt deeply moving which I was not expecting at all. Flawless performances all round, but when Harrison Ford said "Not really" , I went cold and welled up like a baby... For me that was the best delivery of any two words I have seen in cinema. A beautiful masterpiece. I would love to know what Sir Ridley Scott thinks about his beautiful baby?

@@Pr0d3gi Haha! Yes yes yes I was. I work in the film industry for more than 11 years now. Denis talked about mostly how he got involved with DUNE and it was a childhood dream for him to work on this film, and only took him a few seconds to accept the directorial role. He really is one of the nicest person you can talk to.

I'm from Québec so if I may correct you a little, it should be pronounced more like "Duh-nee Veal-nuhv". By the way the name Villeneuve comes from the word "ville" meaning "city" and "neuve" which means "new".

I don't know if your joking, or just not from Montreal... its not a Berri UQAM sweater, its an "University du Québec A Montréal" sweater, its the University he went to. Not a metro station sweater.

@@LesProductionspasunRonddansLBa maybe you don't understand that Kline is just making the connection between the station and the fact it is also one of the main entrances to l'UQAM. You need not look down on him just because he expresses himself differently than you. Also, for you to think Kline actually thinks the sweater is a Subway station sweater...is UTTERLY ludicrous.

@@davelee1935 It’s not like what I’m saying is hard to notice. Look at how shallow the character development is, especially in the replicants in the original and then look at how much they are fleshed out in actual depth in the sequel.

tim walsh there's a theory I could go with, huge fan of Bowie, or even a CGI Bowie bot that replaces Leto courtesy of George Lucas. Funny I was watching it last night and it dawned on me a fan edit without Wallace would probably work. Leto is poo in all his films and should stick to his terrible band
