The 1992 Olympic champion vs the 1996 Olympic champion....epic. Linford is 35 years old in this video, running against an entire line up of sprinters in their 20's...VERY impressive!

In the slo-mo replay Donovan looks smooth and relaxed. Christie looks like that crazy muthafcker running you down for stealing a donut from his lunchbox.

WHY SO SLOW?
@peters6119
@peters6119 9 ай бұрын
It was after the world championships so they had already peaked. And back then 10.10 wasn't considered all that slow. Bailey won the World Championships that year in 9.97, the only guy under 10.00. Christie had run 10.12. So it wasn't that unusual to see them only running 10.10 and slower. Maybe it was cooler or with a slight headwind, as is often the case in late-season European meets.

10.1 was before the juice. After the juice it became 9.8. Yes, that is what the juice does for sprinters.

Also, back in Ben Johnson's days, there were people doping according to Michael Johnson and others, but they never tested positive. They had a way of masking it. Example: Pettigrew, who committed suicide never tested positive, but he came out and said he was doping, so Micheal Johnson lost one of his Relay gold medals because of it.

We never hear anything of Linford Christie anymore....where is he living? After the drugs revelation he has totally disappeared. Maybe he is living out his life in JA....surrounded by tropical flowers and lush vegetation. I wanted to believe he was innocent...but who knows....a positive drugs result is pretty damning.

@DrCrabfing. You are so ignorant! Christie left Jamaica when he was 10 years old. He acquired British citizenship. his parents were British immigrant. (From Jamaica) You don't really read, which is why u don't know that he was an affiliate with British Athletics team.he was even into coaching .. Jamaica Jamaica cannot pay him...

Like he was at the Atlanta Olympics? Give me a break. Donovan broke the world record in Atlanta and even if Linford wasn't disqualified, there was no way he was catching Donovan in that race.
@isaz597
@isaz597 Жыл бұрын
@@delby66agreed, Linford was 36 and he was not going to beat a peak Bailey but to say Bailey had a better résumé at top level sprinting than Linford is delusional. Bailey was effectively at the or near the top of sprinting for a 3year period between the 1995 season to the 1997 season. In 1998 he had a poor season then ruptured his Achilles after that season. He wasn't the same after that.

And we now know that Christie was on drugs as he failed a test for steroids a few years after this. This isn't the body he had in the late 1980's.
