Dissonant Atmospheric Rock. Pioneered simultaneously by the Gordons in 1980 in the Southern Hemisphere, and primarily but not exclusively, Sonic Youth in the Northern Hemisphere. Bailterspace has constantly channeled many of the same quirky influences. Similar bands with similar tonal aspects... The Skeptics and High Dependency Unit.
