Brandon, I think lures can be better in certain situations like you showed in a blitz. But, I think most fisherman are in agreement that live bait trumps lures. What I noticed is that when you were catching all your fish with your lure the water was MOVING. I would even say it was probably incoming tide. In the evening I imagine it was low tide and that water wasn’t moving at all (slack). That’s why you were even struggling to catch bait. I don’t think this was a fair chance for the live fish when the tide is not good. Could you please do a redo? I would also suggest if you aren’t getting bites switching the way you hook the baitfish. Recently I’ve been having great success hooking them in the back on the dorsal side. Predator fish like that kick! Also if free lining with no weight isn’t working I would suggest putting a tiny pinch weight about 6 inches from your baitfish. Fish will still be able to swim out if you open bail but it won’t be able to come to the surface with the weight.
@frankiev-tech46304 жыл бұрын
Yeah lures are great when finding fish in structures or sometimes on open flats...but i love the challenge behind it. Finesse fishing with lures to me makes it worth while and feels more rewarding to me than just casting and leaving the bait to just sitting there...it all depends on the timing of day when fish go for it. But on hot days big fish are lethargic and usually they wait by structure for easy bait. To me the best success is twilight and night times when the water is cooler based on summertime.
@HeySkipper4 жыл бұрын
Oh i agree with you. This was just one situation. If I had went to catch bait during the blitz I would worry that the fish would be gone by the time I’m done catching bait. Next time I should start earlier and try with bait first. I agree, not exactly a fair test, but it’s hard to get the test right when the you roll up to your spot and the fish are already feeding! Until next time!

The difference is with lures you are searching for fish and getting them to hit out of reaction/aggression vs The live bait where the fish needs to find your bait.
@nightlyhour16664 жыл бұрын
Hey Skipper think you missed the point my guy. If you’re doing a bait vs lure test, you can’t add bait to the lure regardless of if the bait is live or not. Lure vs bait test is lure alone vs bait alone. Still a good video though 👌🏽
@hunterdaros91204 жыл бұрын
@@nightlyhour1666 Yes I agree. He also should have used them at the same time. (The artificial lure and the live or dead bait).
@aicejunkey82224 жыл бұрын
Hey skipper, it a great video. But I've gotta agree with the guys, for this test. You shouldnt have put anything or baits onto the lures. You should have used 2 rods instead. 1 rod with bait on and the other with lures. Chance in getting hit with bait on is high, yet we gotta keep on casting for lures. Well fishing is a game of luck. Anyways still its a great video. Out. From 🇸🇬
@karencole24544 жыл бұрын
I have to agree that the tests weren't equal. Putting a piece of live bait isn't fishing straight lure fishing. Also, you should have used the live bait at the same time you were using the lures conditions, were completely different.
