Brother, I just installed my Bak X4ts and squared it off down to the 16th, and I've been dealing with constant fitment issues. Your videos helped me address a few. I decided to measure each rail, and it turned out that they cut the right rail 1" shorter than the left. 😅 Bak will be sending me a replacement rail

Here’s a safety suggestion. Use a file or a Dremel with grinding stone to round off the corners of the rails. A friend of mine was loading the bed when his forearm caught the corner of the track and put a good size gash on his arm that required stitches.

I had an issue with the plastic on my ex's ram tailgate hitting the cover, as it had warped; initially I tried various shims, etc and sanding the plastic. new plastic solved it.. easy to find on amazon. Similar warping starting to show on my F150, but no problems yet with the cover

Just installed x4ts the version with rails. Nothing is bulletproof, but if they had made that last rail near the door stiffer with less flex it would make it harder to lift and get access to the release. Maybe I can replace the latches with ones that would have a key lock under the rail that you would first have to open the door to access, then insert a key. The wire is just too easy to pull.

@@majesticoverland good assessment and possible modification. When I purchased this I definitely accepted for what it is and the “security” that it offers. I don’t keep anything in the back long term that I am overly worried about losing but that’s just my use case. If you do modify the X4TS please come back and update us. Does moving the clamp up and down help tip rail. I know that is part of access covers method in their instructions? I have a X4s on the way so I have no experience....

Thanks for watching and commenting. So moving the clamp really didn’t help per se. What I have found is that the only time it hits is when I use the multi flex tailgate only which is not often. Overall I think you’ll really like it, I know I do.

@@GeoRides114 Thanks for response. I think the access covers have a taller grooved grip area so moving it up and down make a difference. Looking at your video it does not appear you have much room to do that. Not to mention I think the instructions mention clamping to at the top. Thank you again for video.

I'm getting a lot of water entering from the front bulkheads by the cab. Is there any suggestions you might have? I also have water leaking at the tailgate, but i can live with that.

@@caseysathan thanks for watching and commenting. The only real thing I can say is to make sure that you have the right seal installed. It’s based on what type of bed situation you have. My install video talks about the 2 different seals that are provided but I would guess you have the right one in. Honestly, with these type of covers I’ve come to expect some water intrusion. It doesn’t affect me much.

Had the same piece left side broken off on mine. Called Real Truck and they said they would send out 2 pairs. Great waited about 10 days and the package was dropped off by FedEx. Turned out the warehouse guys sent 4 pieces all for the passenger side. Called back and explained what happened and waited another two weeks for the next package of 2 pairs both left and right side. Bought the x4ts rails which they sell separately and been 2 weeks since I received the new rails with a completely opened box and no parts, end caps are missing from T slots. Received in a Saturday so called Real Truck Monday. That was 3 weeks ago and still no parts. Their customer service is great on the phone but getting stuff shipped has not been good. Will have to call again Monday really need the end caps.

In heavy rain there is a minor amount of water in the bed afterwards. Very minor. The only things I store in the bed is my emergency tools and golf clubs. Neither is wet after the rain. I also installed the BedRug XLT Bed Mat for protection and separation from the bed floor. It also keeps my items out of any moisture. Love that you got something out of the video. For me the part that broke was the large rectangle cover. The pin and retaining clips were broken. The part that goes into the roll was fine, it’s a bulkier piece. Thanks for watching and stay tuned!!

I went out to glue my corner piece down , as a precaution. I found when I flipped the end over to apply some glue I found that they now have a screw in the underside where the "teeth" things are.

@GeoRides114 I just installed it yesterday. I am guessing Bak is attempting to remedy the issue of the corner pieces falling off. I believe the screw is to hold it to the other piece. I enjoyed your videos on the subject.

So I have the X2 and it’s rubbing on my 2020 ram limited tail gate door and it’s rubbing through the plastic wear and tear 😢

The exact same plastic corner piece broke during installation for me too. Replacement part is on its way. Seems like an obvious weak spot for such an otherwise well made cover.

Seeing reviews that they come broken or with the rails diff lengths making the cover not fit the bed squarely. Did u have any quality control issues with urs when it arrived. (Aside from the broken corner cap). Great vid

My right rail came out to be 1" shorter than the left. The back portion of the left rail was rivited incorrectly, causing it to be unsquare in relation to the front part of the rail resulting in me having to shim the back left rail out between the bed and rail by 5/16. I also had to shim the right rail in various areas so i could get the cover to be square with the lock engagement points. The installation took me all day, resulting in me having to remove and reinstall every numerous times. Never again. Oh yeah, and my clip broke off yesterday, and the bulkhead gasket they included shrunk, causing 3/8 gaps, which allowed a lot of yesterdays rain to get into the bed.

Sounds weird but i would loosen the mount, climb inside and have them close everything up. Have them put a nice sized shim in-between the areas that are hitting. Now tighten everything up while you're still inside the bed with everything still closed up

Thanks for watching, sometimes it makes it difficult to latch the cover in place. What I have found now after it being installed for a while is it only seems to hit when I'm closing the multifex tailgate. Something about that angle that is different than the regular tailgate.

Mine looks like crap 2 years in. Its torn up the top plastic on my tail gate and the cheap black paints come off on the side channels. I've given up trying to keep the cover clean too. Nothing works for longer then a month parking outside. Soon to be a $1200 paper weight in my garage. Side rubbers faded too. Doesn't matter what cleaner I've used its basically worn grey now. Have had to paint the clip holders 2X as well now . They faded white.......would honestly find a different cover for half the price preferably one from GM so they warranty the item .

Awesome product I have one, I’ve had mine for 2 years and I got about a 2 inch slit on the top and now the tailgate end has come undone and I have to manually adjust it so it can close .

@@realdefense6139 how do powder coated rails turn silver? Unless Im washing my truck with acetone they lied about their manufacturing process. I've contacted warranty, hopefully my second unit holds up but the rails are sadly manufactured in India so I have my doubts. Hate paying top dollar for a sub par product.

I just had an X4s installed on my Ram 2500. After going through a car wash, it is NOT waterproof, water resistant, weatherproof or whatever vague statement that BAK claims. The more accurate statement is it leaks at the tailgate and the front of the bed, at least. Driving 70 mph in the rain will likely be the same water leaks.

Hey reading all these issues makes me hesitant on a purchase. Plus one of vendors selling product isn’t helpful at all if there are issues. I purchased an item which was defective and they told me they couldn’t do anything.

@@josephpuchel6497 I really take issues that are shared online about products with a grain of salt in terms of how many people complain about them. I say that because most people will express negative feelings versus neutral and positive feelings/thoughts online. Example being my hate versus love video on my truck. Unfortunately, IMO, people are drawn quicker to negative behavior. Thst said, I would recommend the product, I ordered through Realtruck and they had great customer service. For me, the broken corner piece was a minor issue. Had there been other structural problems I may have. It’s been great so far and the tailgate issue is no more. Can’t explain it but it clears with no problems. Thanks for watching and stay tuned!
