Baker Beach Crab Fishing (Again)

Using my homemade crab snares
This time around, on my second snaring adventure ever, I had the right kind of snares for the beach. Big thanks to fishermans life for the informative crab snare video. My family and I caught over 15 crabs but sadly only 6 keepers. We seemed to be the only ones pulling crab in as far as my eyes can see from both shoulders so it felt good 😂

Bummer about the reel, Alex. Snaring puts a lot of load on the gearboxes of spinning reels and I've seen other people have similar failures. I recommend a Penn Battle II 8000 combo (comes with a decent heavy action 10' rod) as it won't break the bank and holds up to heavy loads without issue. Another minor tip: when you spool it, use something like Sufix 832 50' in neon lime or high vis yellow and not low-vis green or similar, that way you and others can actually see the line when its out there (particularly if current is moving things around). Always use a mono shock leader though - if a loaded line (snares are heavy) with braid slips during a cast it can seriously damage your finger.

Nice trap...up n Lincoln city or they got this triangle traps their spendy 20$+....next time I hit the coast I'll try to make your trap...there's also good kayak spots pacifac city, Newport and Lincoln city...good crabbn vid.

Fishing with Alex Saeteurn I actually took my kayak there. I’m new with kayaking and I realized my sit in kayak is not made for the waves. It got water in it and I couldn’t get out there so I went home since I don’t have any snare yet. Live and learn lol
