Baker Beach Crab and Surf Perch Fishing

My first attempt on crab snaring

My family and I drove out to Baker Beach to target crab and surf perch. We arrived around 8am and noticed most of the beach was already full of crab fishermens. We found a spot a quarter mile down to the far right and that is where we stayed for the morning. All in all, my family and I had a blast and I look forward to another salt water trip. Next time, I hope to fish longer than 4 hours

🤣 thanks man. besides the red tail surf perch, the others have no size limit and you can keep a combination of 10 per person. Crabbing was slow but I succeeded in taking some home

@@FishingWithAlexS BTW: you can actually keep a combination (multiple species) of 20 per person, but not more than 10 of any one species. Redtails must be 10.5". Best to bleed them out and get on ice as soon as possible, otherwise the flesh can get a bit mushy.

Fishing with Alex Saeteurn Nothing will outfish the danielson collapsible cages. They fish fast with 4 doors at ground level. If you know your knots there isn’t a need for a 4 way harness & you can use empty detergent bottles for your float. Just doing those two things will save you about $30 per trap. Hoop nets suck, so many crab get out while your pulling them up.

Robert Dea I believe it was just two but you’ll have to check the regs to be sure. We had 3 snares this day and 5 adults with fishing license

Did the crab snare come exactly like that the yellow strings? I bought some at dicks sporting and the strings sucks.

The yellow strings came with it but I had to cut the end and redo it. I made it snug tight against the cage

I would recommend you use a rectangular shape one on the beach tho. It was pretty tough reeling in the box snare. I’m going to make my own with instructions from one of fishermans life video

This is my first year too. I had the Sportsman WH snares, but just got a torpedo snare this weekend. Much better. www.torpedocrabsnares.com/. I didn't realize that those box ones are more for the pier. I'll take mine to Pacifica and give them a try. Torpedo is awesome from shore, though.
