The difference is that now he has a decent head coach, reliable placekicking and strong defensive support AT THE SAME TIME that gives him margin for error. Plus he's FINALLY allowed to audible at the line of scrimmage.*

Im a former Browns fan turned Baker Mayfield fan once the Watson trade happened, i've watched every single one of Bakers games and one of the biggest things that i never see getting talked about is how detrimental OBJ was to Baker Mayfield career. With OBJ on the field Baker had 37TD's to 30INT's. Without OBJ on the field Baker has 98TD's to 45INT's. Baker balled out in 2018 but people who are just stat watchers aren't aware of how impressive that season was, firstly he was not supposed to be the Browns starter, Hue Jackson intended for Tyrod Taylor to start for the entire of 2018 and Baker just sit and learn behind him even though Baker massively out played Taylor in training camp. What was most impressive this season was that once the worst HC in modern football Hue Jackson was ousted from Cleveland and Baker was under interim HC Gregg Williams for the final 8 games of the 2018 season Baker threw 19TD's to 8INT's with a completely new offensive scheme cooked up on the fly by Williams and Freddie Kitchens. Then 2019 OBJ comes in and Bakers stats suffer massively, i came to learn that OBJ bragged about his ability to improvise routes which could be the reason for their lack of chemistry on the field, your start WR never being where you expect him to be seems like a recipe for disaster to me, also during this time Freddie Kitchens inexplicably decided to change his offensive scheme to be completely different to what worked so well at the back half of 2018. 2020 season happens and Baker plays really well but again theres more to look at, OBJ got injured in week 7 against the Bengals half way through the first quarter, Baker had thrown 10TD's to 7INT's during these first 6 games with OBJ on the field, as soon as OBJ was carted off Baker threw 5TD's to 0INT's in the remaining 3 and a half quarters of the Bengals game. Baker went on that year to throw a total of 16TD's to only 1 INT with OBJ off the field injured, and that was with 3 storm games in the middle of the season where wind was insanely bad that no passing TD's were thrown. 2021 and 2022 are writeoffs due to the injury in 21 and due to the Panthers in 22 (no explanation needed for the Panthers). 2023 rolls by, Baker once again balls out even though its his 4627th offensive scheme since being in the NFL and people are some how surprised but not me, hell i even bet on him for being the comeback player of the year and im still pissed that they gave it to Flacco (HE THREW 8 INT's IN 5 GAMES!!! THATS HORRIBLE!!). I've even got money on Baker being the MVP this season, do i expect it to happen? No, but would i be shocked if it does happen? Definitely not. If you watch Bakers tape then you really wouldn't be shocked by his current success, his entire career he has been hampered by those around him and now that hes finally free of burdens (well, for the most part, the O line and run game SUCK at Tampa but hes making it work regardless) hes playing extremely well.

This is a little misleading. Godwin had a great game in the slot - but so did Cooper Kupp. He had 110 yards against the Lions in the slot. It is a weakness in their defensive secondary. We will have to see how Godwin does over the remainder of the season. He has always been good in the slot but was taken out of it last year because he was hurt a lot in the slot two years ago. If he can stay healthy then he probably will be very good but there is a question on how long he can stay healthy in that position.

We won't loose no more than 4 games this year - most likely gonna split a win with Saints, Maybe Atlanta Also thst would be only 2,,The Cheifs will probably take us to the wire and we've already got an upset Victory that would have counted in the " 6 game lost" with Detroit,, we are smoking everybody else- not even the 49ers will beat us this year- nor Raevens

Does Baker Mayfield remind anybody of Steve Young?

Always been a fan of Baker. We always knew he was a bad ass quarterback. Cleveland is to stupid. They didn’t deserve him anyway.

@@TheFootballDigesta lot of the veterans worked out on their own and came into training camp in great shape. They don't want to be the guy who showed up and disappointed their teammates with poor play due to laziness in the offseason. They will be tough to beat in the 4th quarter of many games. Baker and Evans took less money to keep the team together.

Us die hard Sooner fans always knew what he could do. Just needed receivers who could actually catch the ball... on a team with OBJ and Jarvis Landry, his most productive receiver was Rashard Higgins. If the Bucs would wise up and cut Rachaad White, they'd be truly terrifying.
@TheFootballDigestАй бұрын
Really hoping they at least see some improvement in the run game over the next few weeks Looks like it may be their Achilles heel yet again this year unfortunately
@Spartan536Ай бұрын
@@TheFootballDigest I like what I am seeing from Bucky Irving, I would expect the Bucs to change up Irving and White where White becomes the 3rd down back as a receiving option. The problem with our run game is still opening those lanes and winning those battles, it also does not help that Luke Goedeke was out against Detroit.
@TheFootballDigestАй бұрын
Agreed about Bucky. I liked him a lot going into the draft from what he did at Oregon And yeah, Rachaad is still very ideal as a receiving back, but with more time like you said I could definitely see them switching to Bucky as their primary back to see what he’s got

Bucs are gonna rout the Broncos. They're better than we think. If only Winfield, forget the other injuries, was healthy, we would have won by at least 10 pts. Baker has finally found his forever home!
@TheFootballDigestАй бұрын
I hope so. The fit with him and Tampa Bay felt right when he signed there last year, and it’s only looking like that partnership is going up from here Feel like Liam Coen is only going to elevate their play immensely on offense

9-11 win range I only watch bucs for 4 yrs but we not Super Bowl contender we waste to many downs on are readable run plays😂 . Our playbook sucks
@someperson8151Ай бұрын
They're learning a new offense. They're thinking more than reacting. They'll be really good by the second half when they all get on the same page.
@TheFootballDigestАй бұрын
I feel the same way. By around the halfway point of this season, I expect them to not be making the same simple mistakes we’ve seen through the first couple of weeks If they’re winning games like this without their offense being fully in stride, I can’t wait to see what it looks like full force by seasons end
