It’s a bit thin and missing that oomph that I look for in Bourbons over $50. My go to 40-50 dollar range bourbons are Stellum, Rare Breed, and Doc Swinson blenders cut. All have that oomph quality. Knob creek single barrel runs laps over Bakers.

I did not recognize the new bottle last time I was in the store and walked right past a bottle of Bakers. For my money Knob Creek 120 at $40 and Old Forester 1920 at $50 are just as good.

i just tried my first bottle of Bakers 7 and im reallly enjoying it. I like the age, taste, and proof. My bottle is just shy of 8 years. My only challenge is the price...i think at $45 this would be a "always have on hand" but at $60 its a "work into the rotation", especially as the Knob 12 is at the same price point from the same distillery and i think i like it a tad more.
@davidschweibold2564 жыл бұрын
In the bourbon world where a lot of questionable new offerings are coming out from both major distillers and crap (craft) distillers in this price range and higher, this is a really solid option and I really enjoy mine. The one I have is 8 years 6 months old.

This was a purchase that I bought as a father's day/ birthday present for my son-in-law, who I love very much. I have not drank any liquors, let alone bourbons, since I was a teen in the late 70's early 80's. Bad experiences as a teen ruined my attempts at trying anything even closely related. I decides to try this and couldn't believe the flavors I was getting from this. And the finish was great. As a noob, I can't pick up on all the aspects that you all notice but because of Baker's I have a newfound appreciation for well crafted bourbons and have since bought Four Roses Small Batch, Wild Turkey Rare Breed and Russell's 7 yr Single Barrel. Guess I'm hooked. Got the last bottle of Baker's for my son-in-law and haven't been able to find it. I would like to compare now that I have tried others.

That's s great story Chris. Bourbons definitely have a way of drawing you in. Baker's single barrels like most single barrel offerings can vary. If you have trouble finding the baker's than give knob Creek single barrel a try. Also from Jim beam...9 years old and about 45 bucks. An absolute value.

I never tried the small batch but I love the single barrel. $90 here in Canada. A bit pricey but I think worth it. I definitely prefer it to the Knob Creek. I taste caramel, cinnamon, nuts, a little charred oak and a bit of a floral note. Ends with bit of heat in a nice way and flavour lingers. Really like it.

I always liked the original Bakers 107. The 13 year single barrel was 184$CAD in Ontario Canada. The LCBO released all of them unannounced at one location in central Toronto. Preventing all the rest of Ontario from getting a bottle. I wasn't about to get one at that price without trying it but I love the fact that our BS liquor board just fucks us left and right. It's such a great province :)

I just picked some up for the first time after not being able to find it on the shelf for months. The version I got is 8 years, 9 months, but this review is still spot on. Good, but not great for the price (paid $57 locally). I think it tastes very similar to the standard 100 proof Knob Creek but is nearly double the price. And something like Rare Breed is definitely superior and costs about $10-$12 less. Just my two cents! And either way, fun to at least have a bottle in the collection.
