Bannock bread so versatile. Some butter and jam is always good.

A few years late to the bread party, but I am here. I have tried this bannock and found it cooked nicely when I wrapped it around a stick and spun it around a few times to cook it evenly. Worked great. I have even made some very convincing crispy bottom pizza in a pan a few times also.

Good luck with your masters, I made some bannock the other day - but steamed it in a pan, it has the texture of a steamed dumpling but great for soaking up curry sauce - ATB

It’s 6 years later! But I found it very cool to see that the Scottish make bannock in the exact same traditional way as a lot of First Nations and Métis in Canada. Makes sense, since they learned the word and how to make it using flour from Scottish fur traders! But it’s considered a very culturally important food for some indigenous people here now. Cultural exchange is really cool.

:-) it's a scone that's a very cool idea I was baking cinnamon biscuits today with dates because I didn't have sugar. congratulations with your studies I've been wanting to make a clay oven outside but this is quite simple and interesting the area where I live doesn't have a lot of clay soil but there are a lot of rocks maybe I could just use rocks thank you for this great idea. sometimes there are power cuts.

Hi. I do enjoy watching your videos. Must be a relief to have completed your thesis. Have you come across the books by Lilian Beckwith, one is called- 'A rope in case', also 'The Sea for Breakfast' I think you might enjoy them.

You might buy 20 acres then live right smack dab in the centre! Don't see how you could stand it in the long run. Do well. A bit burnt is best!!! 🌞

Love the videos do you lay a stone base for your fire in peat bearing land or heather moorland stops underground fires that can pop up weeks later.but by watching your videos I'm for sure you know that wishing you happyness and good health and peace from Marcus 🙂✌️

🤦🏼 my nextdoor neighbour lit a fire to burn off the autumn grasses at the bottom of their garden. I spent the rest of the afternoon putting out fires that kept springing up in mine. But, yes, I live on the edge of moorland and a fire out there can take weeks to put out.

How did the old scots get baking soda?
@wholeNwon6 жыл бұрын
Self-rising flour has baking powder in it not baking soda. I think you might have liked the results even better with baking powder. What's your master's in? Your enthusiasm is fun.

Almost didn't recognize you with the shaven face. Would it work if you put Olive Oil on the rock, instead? Raisins are OK, but I'd rather use blueberries!
@dmitritelvanni4068 Жыл бұрын
I used to make mine with olive oil, and some fresh herbs baked in. Not traditional but aromatic as hell. Especially with that smoky taste to it.

Hmm? A dough of mostly wheat flour with a little baking soda thrown in and baked? We call that a biscuit in America.

Too dry. Honestly. I know. To keep dough from sticking to your hands, rub a little fat on your hands. Then make sure your dough is soft enough.
