Irving Finkel found textual evidence in cuneiform versions of the great flood story that suggested the actual boat that later turned into Noah's ark through translations was a very large version of the mesopotamian coracle Quaffa. they even reconstructed one to see if the very specific measurements were plausible... also noteworthy is the lovely triaxial weave used for coracles in india, an amazing application of the same pattern known as kagome in japanese basketry.

Could it be that they used 2 different ones. That they would soak the 1st one, place it on the 2nd one and wrap themselves ( with the 1st one towards the outside and the 2nd one towards the inside).

How has it held up? I've been looking at some tanning, and it's said over and over again that deer fur can break easily due to the hollow hairs and that a lot of fur falls out. So I'm wondering how it's held up, especially since you wear it with the hair touching you.

Approximately 1/2 of my ancestors came from that island, but the last name originates in Norway from the 1200's. The other half is from the Milan area. Awesome to see the land. Thank you. Oh yea, we buggered out to the midwest of the new world in the very early 1900's. I like onions, is your clue to where.

Hi, fellow Scot here, just stumbled over this, excellent. The earliest houses in Scandinavia were thatched too of course, but to aid the release of the smoke from the fire, each gable end would have a small triangular opening to allow a breeze or the wind to draw out the smoke, this opening was known as a 'wind eye' we now have...... windows. I bet the fish oil is smelly.

I would probably try and exchange something like almond flour for some of the normal flour and 100 use wholemeal if any.

"Bonnie Prince Charlie!" I love it!!!
@abequiner98155 күн бұрын
I was so disappointed to learn that "Bonnie Prince Charlie" was born and raised in Italy. He was a con artist like every other "rightful" king. And after his rebellion doomed the highlands, he ran away dressed like a girl instead of dieing in battle like the men who followed him.
@ralforlich17305 күн бұрын
Aye, he was born in Palazzo Muti, Rome and raised in Italy, as the Stuarts were in exile. The rest is hanoverian propaganda, still in 2024. Had they shown you their picture of him, he would have 6 fingers on every hand.
@sussurus3 күн бұрын
What did you expect, that George II would just *let* Charlie live in Scotland??? And he's a con artist because he attempted to gather his men to continue his campaign after almost the entire army routed at Culloden (not including the half of his army that missed the battle entirely) instead of shrugging his shoulders and strolling into gunfire? The campaign fell apart *after* the battle, as Charlie wanted to await French reinforcements which were prevented by the Royal Navy, and as politics got in the way. It wasn't some epic battle he fled from. He spent months trying to reorganise the campaign, but shifting loyalties among the clans over to the English made it unviable and he eventually left for France.
@ralforlich17303 күн бұрын
@@sussurus Nice attempt of distraction. The bogus accusation was that Charles Edward Stuart ran away from the battlefield. In reality O'Sullivan had to drag him away. By the way it was his order that disbanded the army at Ruthven Barraks on April 20th.

My DNA is a mix of Irish, Scott, Welsh and English with the requisite Norse percentage (in my case Swedish and Danish) and a bit of French German from the Lorraine region. The percentages of Scott, Irish and Welsh also keep changing with one being higher with one update and then the next the other being higher. I've been as high as 27% Scott and I'm currently 11% from the Scottish Highlands and Central Loland's as ancestry is getting more and more area specific these days. Anyway, my point was every time I hear any music from that area, it gets my attention in a way I can't explain and I've been that way even before I knew anything about my DNA. Thank you very much for all your videos 🙌
