When giving advises try to have some real good content...then do it :) The issue is that all bakeries have their tricks on the doe and cream. About Portugal, about the touristic places and cultural differences, cultural events...you are doing an excellent job...KEEP ON

Niiiicely done!!! 👍 The first time I baked natas from scratch, like you, they looked 10x uglier than yours, haha! Yours looked really nice for a first home-made attempt! The annoying part is how long it takes to make the dough... and then it's super hard to make it look well layered, thin and crispy. But props to you both for taking the challenge - and for poor Amalie for asking people in the street, lol. 😅👏

Amelie, as someone who likes to bake, I immediately knew you would have a problem with the dough. Too much flour!!! Nevertheless, you did very well for the first try. They have been making pastéis de nata for centuries, trying it once won't do the trick. You've got to keep trying. I loved the feedback from the Portuguese tasters. 😆 More videos like this please. You should try to cook a traditional Portuguese dish.

Amalie needs to make another batch but this time you go out and ask people what they think about it, without telling them that you tried to make Pastéis de Nata. If the reaction is as positive as with the first try, I think you're in business. I even suggest you call it The Classy Pastel. ; )

Amalie, It was really brave of you trying to make puff pastry it's very difficult. In fact, it's the hardest part of pasteis de nata. I always buy the pastry before and then I make myself the custard. OK, easier... but cheating. But at least I can say to friends - I made it myself!

With the pre made dough you still get the feeling of a fresh home cooked pastel de nata, but you know deep in you mind that you cheated 😅 however.. If I was to cook it for my friends I would probably do the same as you! But if you make a recipe you gotta go all the way 😅

Only pastries have them. It's not on sale in supermarkets I think. People have to create themselves the perfect crunchy dough without that butter.

Don't be hard on yourself Amalie. You didn't have your grandmother teaching you how to prepare the pastry from a secret 300 year old recipe. I would love to see more cooking vlogs. Next time I'm in Lisbon we will be watching for you two and I'm going to bring you a set of spatulas for your kitchen. Every cook should have at least one (even in a minimalist kitchen). 😉. Thank you we also put a lot of work into it so we appreciate you like it. It was quite expensive (20€ I think) but it was really, really delicious and unique. Very fresh, and quit fruity. But I could easily find a cheaper and better bottle of Portuguese wine. The thing is that this one were just very special.

Vigor Gordo is the best fresh milk in Portugal (selled in Supermarket ), as well as primor butter! Good choice guys ! Also my favorite bottled water is Serra da Estrela! If you need some advice in our brands just ask! :) Edit: my favorite pastéis de nata are from a coffee shop called "Marianita" in Queluz, search for it! The ones from "Pastéis de Belém" store are really over rated! Thank me later! And i can tell you where you can eat the best "cozido à portuguesa" ;)

@@joenandamalie Ok the restaurant is called "Adega Típica da Tala", and is located in Belas, Lisbon district, not far from your residence :). I guess they only have "cozido à portuguesa" in sundays, like most tipical restaurants btw, cause its an expensive dish to make (it has lots of good stuff) mmmmmm just to think about it! Also they have a delicious tradicional dish called "arroz de pato", you should definitly try it there as well! Oh and dont forget their awesome "sangria", an alcoholic drink that even the children adore! 😂 P.S Im portuguese, raised and born in Lisbon, so Im not a native English speaker, sorry if i made any mistake 😬🤭

As i said before they have the best "pastéis de nata" that i ever tried! And after you try those marvellous "natas" you can visit the "Palácio de Queluz", wich is near by!

When someone says that a pastel de nata reminds him of a tigelada but then gives it a 7, either its the free factor, beeing nice or both xD Either way, I believe that if You repeat it with the proper butter, more butter and/or less flour, You will get it right!
