I'm Iranian and in iran if you go to any shop or store, you can find many types of fruit leather with sour sauce for fruit leather, and also there is type of a thick liquid which is fruit leather but liquid called Tamr, and usually we have pomegranate fruit leather, or apricot fruit leather, or kiwi fruit leather, sour fruit leather, and also we have fruit leather out of pineapple and raspberries but they're not very famous because they're a bit sweet and the Iranian people mostly hate sweet fruit leather, only sour fruit leather

This is sold everywhere in Georgia 🇬🇪. it comes in circular sheets. usually the varieties are Kiwi, Apple, Pomegranate, Apricot, Red Plum and Green Plum. I'm eating this right now! and pomegranate is the best! not too sweet and not too sour. from this age old recipe the concept was copied and then turned into a candy called "Roll-Ups". but this is natural and tastes totally different. I'm addicted to this stuff. also I've tried Arabic versions etc .. but they're thicker and very, very sweet. the main one they eat is made from Apricots and eaten during Ramadan.

Or you can just let people use added sugar in their food. I for one love a good raisin, but after having raisins with powdered sugar in my cereal for so many years(yes, I love Raisin Bran) I always feel disappointed when eating plain raisins. Hell, one recipe I've seen for fruit leather is that you should add powdered sugar to the surface of it to make it tastier and less sticky.
