Sir, ഞാൻ ഒരു കാര്യം ചോദിച്ചോട്ടെ, കലിക എന്ന ചിത്രം ഞാൻ കണ്ടതാണ്. നല്ല ചിത്രം. നോവലും ഞാൻ വായിച്ചതാണ്. ആ ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ പരസ്യത്തിൽ ഒന്നും താങ്കളുടെ പേര് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല. മോഹനചന്ദ്രന്റെ കലിക എന്നായിരുന്നു പരസ്യത്തിൽ. കുറെ കാലത്തോളം ഞാൻ വിചാരിച്ചിരുന്നത് ഞാൻ ആദ്യമായി കണ്ട ബാലചന്ദ്രമേനോൻ സിനിമ അണിയാത്തവളകൾ എന്ന സിനിമ ആയിരുന്നു എന്നാണ്. ആ സിനിമ തൊട്ടു എന്റെ ഒരു rollmodel താങ്കളാണ്. സർ, ഓരോ എപ്പിസോഡ് കഴിയുന്തോറും അടുത്ത എപ്പിസോഡിനുള്ള കാത്തിരിപ്പിന്റെ ആഴം കൂടുന്ന പോലെ. ഞങ്ങളെപ്പോലുള്ള സിനിമ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്ക് ഒരോ എപ്പിസോഡും ഓരോ പാഠപുസ്തകങ്ങൾ തന്നെയാണ്. കോടമ്പാക്കത്തെ അലച്ചിലുകൾക്കൊടുവിൽ സംവിധായകനായി അതിനു ശേഷം തിരക്കുള്ള, പ്രിയങ്കരനായ സംവിധായകനായി .എന്നു പറയുമ്പോൾ തന്നെ ഏറ്റവും അത്ഭുതപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന ഒരു കാര്യം എന്നത് ഒരു വർഷം തന്നെ നാലും അഞ്ചും ചലച്ചിത്രങ്ങൾക്ക് കഥയും തിരക്കഥയും സംഭാഷണവും രചിച്ച് സംവിധാനം നിർവ്വഹിക്കുക എന്നത് തന്നെയാണ്. അതും അന്നത്തെ ന്യൂ ജനറേഷൻ എന്നു പറയാവുന്ന ഗംഭീര സൃഷ്ടികൾ. ആ കഥകളോരോന്നും ജനിച്ചതിനും ,എങ്ങനെയാണ് സാർ ആ കഥകളെ വളർത്തിക്കൊണ്ടു വന്നതെന്നും ഒരു പ്ലോട്ടിൽ നിന്നും ഒരു മുഴുനീള തിരക്കഥ എങ്ങനെ വളർന്നു വരുന്നു എന്നറിയാൻ ഒരുപാട് ആഗ്രഹമുണ്ട്... ഈ കൊറോണ സമയത്ത് സാറിന്റെ സിനിമകൾ (അണിയാത്ത വളകൾ മുതൽ ഇങ്ങോട്ടുള്ള ചിത്രങ്ങൾ, ഉത്രാടരാത്രിയും, രാധ എന്ന പെൺകുട്ടിയും കാണാൻ സാധിച്ചില്ല ) കാണുകയും ഓരോ ചിത്രങ്ങൾക്കും 5,10 വരികളിൽ ഒരു ഉള്ളടക്കം ഡയറിയിൽ കുറിച്ചിടാറുണ്ട്. ഒരു ചിത്രത്തിൽ നിന്നും അടുത്ത ചിത്രത്തിലേക്കുള്ള യാത്രയിൽ സാറിന്റെ ചിന്തകൾ എപ്രകാരമായിരിക്കും സഞ്ചരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടാവുക എന്ന് മനസ്സിരുത്തി മനസ്സിലാക്കാൻ എന്നെ അത് സഹായിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. സാറിന്റെ സിനിമകളിൽ അച്ചുവേട്ടന്റെ വീട് എന്ന ചിത്രമാണ് എന്നെ ഏറ്റവും അധികമായി സ്പർശിച്ചത്.സാർ ഇനിയും എഴുതണം .ഇനിയും സാറിന്റെ തലയിൽ ആ ബാലചന്ദ്രമേനോൻ സ്റ്റൈൽ കെട്ട് വരണം....

Excellent story telling. Yesterday I watched both Kalika and aniyatha valakal. Kalika - The characters were able maintain the suspense and anxiety till end of the movie. Liked it. Aniyatha valakal - Very good movie. Especially the story. Many characters voice resemble your voice (Doctor, friend, broker etc. :)

Thursday night hectic joli കഴിഞ്ഞു വന്നു കിടക്കുന്നതിനു മുമ്പ് ( Seattle USA) ആദ്യം നോക്കുന്നത് സാറിന്റെ വിവരണം ആണ്. എങ്ങനാ ഞാൻ പറയുക? 25 kilometer 105 degree ചൂടത്തു നടന്നു തളർന്നു ദാഹിച്ചു വരുന്നവനു ഒരു tall ഗ്ലാസ് തണുത്ത നാരങ്ങാ വെള്ളം കിട്ടുന്ന സുഖം ആണ് സാറിന്റെ അവതരണ ശൈലി ..I do not know how to explain my feelings. .Style, Class and Grace.More importantly, you have a way with communicatiing to the people. എന്റെ ബാല്യകാലത്ത് ഞാൻ വായിച്ചൊരുപാടിഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട, പിന്നീട് സിനിമയായിക്കണ്ട മോഹനചന്ദ്രൻ എന്ന ബി എം സി മേനോന്റെ നോവലായ കലികയെപ്പറ്റി മേനോൻ സാർ പറഞ്ഞു പോയത് കേട്ടപ്പോൾ ഒന്ന് രണ്ടു കാര്യങ്ങൾ പറയണം എന്ന് തോന്നി. സിനിമാറ്റിക്ക് ആയി ഒരു പാട് പോസിബിലിറ്റിയുള്ള ഒരു പ്രമേയമായിരുന്നു കലികയുടേത് .. അല്ല ഇപ്പോഴുമാണ്. പക്ഷെ അന്നത്തെ സാങ്കേതികമായ പരിമിതികൾ വെച്ച് ആ ഒരു പ്രമേയ പരിസരം ആവശ്യപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു ട്രീറ്റ്മെൻറ് ലഭ്യമാക്കാൻ സാധിച്ചിട്ടില്ല എന്ന് ഞാൻ കരുതുന്നു. എന്നാൽ ഇപ്പോൾ ആ പരിമിതികൾ ഒക്കെ കാലം വലിയൊരളവ് വരെ പരിഹരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. സാങ്കേതികമായ മുന്നേറ്റങ്ങൾ വിനിയോഗിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് മികച്ച ഒരു ദൃശ്യാനുഭവം ആക്കി മാറ്റാൻ ഇപ്പോൾ കഴിയും. കാലോചിതമായ പരിഷ്‌കാരങ്ങൾ ട്രീറ്റ്മെന്റിൽ വരുത്തിയാൽ ഇന്ന് ഒരു പുനരാവിഷ്കാരം നൽകാനുള്ള ഒരു സ്കോപ്പ് ആ പ്രമേയപരിസരത്തിന് ഉണ്ടെന്ന് ഞാൻ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. ജോസഫും, സക്കറിയയും, ജമാലും, സദനുമൊക്കെ ഈ തലമുറയ്ക്കും ഐഡന്റിഫൈ ചെയ്യാൻ കഴിയുന്ന കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളായി മാറാൻ കഴിയുന്ന ഫ്രഷ്‌നെസ്സ് ബാക്കിയുണ്ട്. ഇത്രയും പറഞ്ഞത്, പ്രിത്വിരാജ് അങ്ങോടു പറഞ്ഞു പോയ ആ ആഗ്രഹത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു കേട്ടത് കൊണ്ടാണ്. അണിയാത്ത വളകളേക്കാൾ മുമ്പ് ഇന്ന് ഒരു പുനർജ്ജന്മം അർഹിക്കുന്നത് കലികയാണെന്ന് കരുതുന്നു. അതിൽ പൊടിയൻ ജോസഫായി തിളങ്ങാൻ പ്രിത്വിരാജിന് കഴിയും

Menon Sir... So many things you told about Sukumaran Sir and everything can be visualised just like a film. Ishtamanu pakshe is a family favourite. Yes, it is not surprising that Sukumaran sir felt your dialogues are perfect. Because it was perfectly suitable for an actor of his calibre. Your narration on film Kallika was interesting. Good that you convinced the producers that Sukumaran sir was apt for the role. It was a far sightedness of a good director in you. Enjoyed your observations on Nirmalyam and the young rebel hero awaiting to be unleashed in Malayalam industry. Of course, director is the captain of the ship. There is no harm done when you openly state that each and every film is important. Anyway Sukumaran Sir will be remembered in the history of Malayalam film industry and also your good self.

Late Mr. Sukumaran , a popular actor of yesteryear, famous for his dialogue delivery and razor sharp dialogues and one who was admired by many for his style of acting and one who belonged to the Soman- Jayan era, has been brought alive before the viewers by the famous personality of the Malayalam Film Industry , Mr. Bala- Chandra Menon, as he pays glorious tribute to the late actor in his distinctive style which turned out to be extremely interesting, holding attention of every one. Late Mr. Sukumaran, who worked with Mr. Menon in several of his movies , calls Sukumaran as a stylish actor , explains in detail his close proximity with the actor , and recollects his memories and the unforgettable days he spent with the " Nirmalyam " fame actor and also his struggling days when the actor thought of quitting the films to take up a job overseas. But fate has brought him back in to the acting stream and this " Shankupushpam" actor did not have to look back since then. It was Menon's style of narrating the story and his depiction , that mattered the most. It had all the characteristics of a Menon movie !

Balachandran, your narration and presentation of matters are outstanding. Your vocabulary and diction are excellent and very nice hear and you have got superb voice as well. Your narration about sukumaran that he reported for shooting in lungi , that shows the famous actor Sukumaran was a down to earth person inside his heart and never believed in glamour in movie industry after all he was well educated and well read person. He was fully aware of his capabilities and he knows he will get respect and admiration from people who likes his talent in acting. Balachandran, I saw your movie ‘’Karyam nissaram’’ back to back first and second shows. So you still have talent and I request you to use it wisely. I didn’t like the movies that you did lately. You are so good in telling stories and I still believe you are an outstanding director and story writer. As prithvi raj said please come up with a good story and create a super hit movie that we love to watch.
