Yeah Balan is just a fun commander. One of the better Mono White Commanders in my opinion...probably somewhere in the top 10.

Have you tought about uril the mistwalker? Hard to remove easy to drop being a 5 for 5/5 with hexproof and self pump for playing auras on him?

This list is pretty out of date I think. Theres a bunch of new equipments. But i think the premise holds true. Ramp a little bit, maybe have a few small utility creatures and then bring it all home with Balan.

I disagree with the lack of priority you put on Sword of the Animist but to each their own.

Don’t get me wrong I love animist, but feast and famine is the most broken equipment in this format. That was a choice between +6 mana this turn, or +1 mana next turn. Pretty clear to choice to me.

Be aware of Stoneforge's second ability, I think you didn't take that into consideration when dumping out your hand. Still very well piloted though. I'm sure I have a Balan lying around here...

I used it later on. There may have been opportunity earlier I’d have to look again. Sometimes I do like keep sfm as an attacker blocker so I won’t use the ability if I’m not expecting coubterpells or the mana savings isn’t relevant at the moment.

Hedron Archive is such a deceptively good card. It really ought to see more play. I have like 10x or 12x copies and they are pretty much ALL in decks.

Yeah its sort of like whites "I win" card....you win by not losing any of your stuff or not dying to the alpha strike. In paper its also a great card to allow yourself a bathroom break.
